A Woodland Thanksgiving

A Woodland Thanksgiving

A mother sparrow feeds her young;

a squirrel stores nuts inside her nest...

within a cozy burrow deep,

three foxes closely lie in rest.

A doe finds berries on a branch

and nudges to her little fawn;

two racoons share a scavaged feast

collected since the early dawn.

An owl sounds a thankful hoot

for manna found the night before;

a mother rabbit snuggles up

to little ones near grassy door...

and coinciding gracefully,

the forest praises all aglow;

the celebration is divine-

as that is how God willed it so...
