Awakening

A rooster crows in early morn;
the sound echoes o're fields of corn
that stretch for miles down the road-
a gravel path from my abode.

An early bird awakening
then suddenly begins to sing,

A cabbage white's sporadic flight
flits quickly, beckoning my sight;
upon a wayward path, it goes-
as in a winded gust, it flows.

An ox-eyed daisy, bloomed anew
gleams, magnified in morning dew;
the tire swing stirs in the breeze
'neath subtle sound of rustling trees.

The crickets now have lessened song;
this brand new day shall move along
upon my porch, from where I gaze
so thankful to Him, as I praise....
