Illuminated

(a rubiyat sonnet)

Such light that beams from Him I've come to know,
that makes me shine within the water's flow;
I pray, 'Dear Lord, illuminate my soul'-
within your will and grace, in which I grow.

His brilliance guides me to eternal goal
beyond the narrow doorway to the Shoal;
His guiding truth, in mind- I hear Him say-
'Remember child - I am in control!'

From spark to glimmer, light reflects His way
unfurled to those we meet, from day to day.
It is how God created us to be,
as only Light Divine reflects from clay.

Each one of us has given seeds to sow-
out in the world, reflecting Him, we go....

(a Rubiyat sonnet is a combination of the Rubiyat and sonnet form.  The first 3 stanzas
 are written in the interlocking Rubiyat form, with a heroic couplet added at the conclusion
 of the poem.  It's 14 lines (true to the sonnet form) of iambic pentameter, with a rhyme scheme
 of ....   a  a  b  a     b  b  c  b     c  c  d  c     a  a )
