Creekside

Creekside

Along the rolling pasture, flows a creek

that leads to woodland solitude I seek

where fern and bracken limn the water's edge

toward's ancient oaks that form the forest's hedge.

A beckoning comes forth from vibrant trees

that waves hello and rustles in the breeze

as in the creek, reflects the golden boughs

concordant with the pasture's fallowed brows.

Far deeper in the woodland simmers hues;

wind stirs the copper kettle midst my views.

Leaves crunch beneath my feet; I walk to seek

the peace of Autumn, followed by the creek...
