I'm Being Led

I'm Being Led

(a Shelley sonnet)

With fragrant grace, I'm being led today
to dogwood blossoms and to redbud hues;
I'm beckoned as the April beckons May,
by dance of yellow lady slippers, new
and painted trillium orison bouquets.
I'm being led, by meadow buttercups,
root-bright and drenched, nearby the flowing stream;
I soul-drink and as though the deer, look up-
in quiet pause, lulled as the now still breeze.
I'm harkening within this woodland Spring,
God-grounded here with strength of praising trees-
yet, as the finch, wing-blessed and spirited
raised up in breath of Heaven-wind that sings...
one violet of multitudes, I'm led...

Psalm 42:1...'As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.'
Psalm 23:2...'He makes me lie down green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters.'

(This is a sonnet form used by Percy Bysshe Shelley.)
