Winged

My heart, his heart - I freely write

in chains, though free by grace;

the ancient Roman winds still blow-

Paul's voice - the earth - this place.

The letters writ, a poem penned-

the world that tempts the spirit;

an eagle's flight - the soaring Truth-

for those who long to hear it...

Here, I'm referencing Paul's Epistles to the Romans, and also Psalm 34.

This poem is a double common measure stanza, similar to
the ballad stanza except for the rhyme scheme.
