When Autumn Calls

When Autumn Calls

The Autumn makes my heart leap up,

to drink of manna from the cup

that flows windward, from hill to hill

within the season's cozy chill.

The Autumn beckons to my gaze,

and tells my heart to give Him praise-

as since the Genesis of plan,

the season takes a hallowed stand.

The Autumn calls my earthly eyes

to glance up to the wind-blown skies

in golden morns and burnished eves

amidst the patterned quilt of leaves.

In wondrous season now begun,

I'm awed from dawn to setting sun;

just when October here befalls-

my heart leaps up when Autumn calls.
