Sermon on the Mount

Sermon on the Mount

A dawning sun opened the door

where thrives a congregation;

the woodland and all denizens

awakened with elation.

Bold from a pulpit branch, it spoke-

a cardinal oh so clear;

the blood red notes then echoed past

all hills and vales near...

and far beyond, the praise was heard-

an ancient melody

within the wind, throughout all lands-

as God would have it be...

(This poem is written in 'common measure' also known as ballad stanza)
