Nearby the Stream...

Nearby the Stream

Nearby the stream, gold treasures flow
and set the covered bridge aglow;
my eyes then pan the leaves I see
cascading here in front of me,
surrounded by where birches grow.

I revel here, as oft I go
to mine in Autumn, row on row
this guilded splendor jubilee,
nearby the stream.

I take inside the wealth I know
that beckons me from high and low;
the old wood bridge stands in decree
of richness stored in memory
compounding as the leaves that blow-
nearby the stream.

(a rondeau) There is a covered bridge in a neighboring town
                    that I visit several times during the year.  Autumn
                    is my favorite time to observe the nature there.
