Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer

A rooster crows in early morn

proclaiming here a new day born

amidst a dawning warming sun

that brightens misted fields of corn.

The early chores already done,

a farmer rests, this day begun

out on the porch, in chilly breeze

as horses in the meadow run.

Confetti leaves fall from the trees-

a lane winds out through distant lees,

October woodland scent in air-

and oh - the beauty that he sees...

which makes him mindfully aware

of our Creator's loving care;

he folds his hands in morning prayer-

he folds his hands in morning prayer...
