Church May Change...  Jesus Doesn’t!

There once was a pastor who had an

"old fashioned way of preachin.'"

I could sense God's power each

 Sunday he was speakin.'

Many said to him;

"You're out of touch!"

"You're not reaching the

unchurched very much."

He was voted out. A new

pastor took his place.

He'd "jump up and holler"

with a smile on his face..

He preached with this

one thing in mind:

Preaching on what he thought was

 "fitting for our time."

Why preach on sin?

 "Anything's fair game."

Negelecting the holiness and

respect of Jesus' name.

This church became filled with

entertainment and loud music too.

Whatever brings in the crowds--

"it must be cool!"

I wonder if they believe...The Holy

 Spirit must bring people in.

To be separate from the world

 and abstain from sin?

Christ is coming for a church

that's washed in HIS blood.

Is it the world--or Jesus--

whom the church does love???

Jesus still washes all sin in the

"same old fashioned way."

And he's still the same Jesus...

both yesterday and TODAY!!!"

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
