Spending Quality Family Time
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

By James Pemberton
Other Poems by James Pemberton

Spending Quality Family Time Is Important!

A son arranged for his father’s

birthday appointment.

He was soon afterward filled

with much disappointment.

His son wanted for his family

to come and see him.

This way the grandkids could see

grandpa and be with him.

When the time came, his father was

busy with other things.

He didn’t think about the consequences

this brings.

It seemed like making some money

was his goal of the day.

He spent 20 minutes with his son

and then went away.

His son thought it was important

to come as a family.

But his father seemed to be

“pre-occupied,” and not happy.

His son went home that day with

a heart that was broken.

Afterwards, few words with his

father were spoken.

Spending time with family should be

an important thing to do.

No matter what seems to have

“wrapped itself around you.”

Whatever distraction, or what may come our way.

Shouldn’t replace our time

to come together and pray.

Special occasions that come about

 in life need encouragement.

Let’s not go our separate ways

filled with discouragement!

Let’s spend quality time!  Every mom,

 dad, daughter and son!

Let’s ask for God’s blessings, and seek

his love as ONE!

As a family, let’s seek God’s love

 to completely fill our soul!

And make quality family time

 our number one goal!

About the Poet
I and my wife have 4 grown children and currently live in the Pacific Northwest. I've spent much of my life doing volunteer work in the food distribution for the needy among local churches. Many of the poems I've written are a reflection of times of adversity as a reminder of God's love and faithfulness. I've found many opportunities to share my poems with those who are hurting and discouraged. I'm thankful for the reports of many of the poems touching people's lives. I hope that the poems included on Wordchimes will touch and bless your life too!
