Prowler in the Temple
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

           Prowler in the Temple

He prowls the earth and doesn't sleep,
He skims the surface, then dives deep
To trade the surface goods for souls
And leave behind dark empty holes.

He need not batter down the gates,
They're open, so he infiltrates
And soon is welcomed for the wares
He brings to wile away all cares.

And while awaying cares and woes,
Each customer, the prowler knows,
Is restless happy as more time
And patient truth observe the crime.

Mere goods can't care how they are used,
That which objects when it's abused
Is something soley planted deep
Which also doesn't ever sleep.

And also never goes away,
Won't be appeased by any day
Or two, or three, or four, or more
Of trading with the prowler's store.

This temple's not a friendly stop
For prowler and his tempting shop,
Mere surface goods can't please the deep
In souls where holy spirits keep.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
