The Prayer

The Prayer

Watch the incense, you will see,
It rises upward fragrantly,
Rises from a mound of ash,
But first, a smokeless fire flash
Ignites the body of its dust,
Before the smoke, a fire must
Burn brightly blue, unseen within
The rim of fire, the rim of sin.

Watch the prayer, you will see,
It rises upward lovingly,
Rises from the mortal clash
Of flesh and spirit, mends the gash
And cools the heat, rekindles trust,
Before its peace, the prayer must
Sincerely speak from deep within
The heart when He re-enters in.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
