Mother-Love

"She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household,
and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed."
(Proverbs 31: 26-28)

Mother-Love


She mends small socks and mends each hurt,
and smiles at faces caked with dirt;
She answers questions all day through
like, "Why did God make Heaven blue?"

"Mommy, come quick! I found a bug!
she oohs and ahs, and gives a hug,
Then takes the time to stop and praise
some daring feat meant to amaze.

She packs a lunchbox, shiny new,
inserts a note: "I'm glad you're you!"
And then puts in some extra stuff
in case some kid won't get enough.

She watches o'er each little one
from break of day till setting sun,
And when the clock says time for bed,
when bedtime tales and prayers are said...

She plants a kiss upon each cheek,
and through the night she checks to peek
To make sure everything's okay,
'cause Mothers...well, they're just that way!

Before she sleeps she says a prayer,
entrusting each to Jesus' care:
"Although I give them room and board,
each one belongs to You, dear Lord!"

And since this old world first began
it's been the Heavenly Father's plan
To place small babies from above
within this haven, "Mother-Love!"
