My Daughter's Laughter

My Daughter's Laughter

A dark-haired girl with eyes of blue,
A haunting smile that captures you,
And charms your spirit through and through,
Illusion of persistence...
For she's a ghost of long-dead dreams
When hopes were lifted to extremes
And nothing there is as it seems,
A fantasy existence.

I long for her sometimes at night,
Picture her running, then mid-flight
She lands on me and holds me tight,
With laughter borne of sheer delight.
The angels smile to see us so,
And she's with me wheree're I go,
She'll always be with me, although
She's never been ~ no one I know.

Yet I'd live "happily ever after"
Basking in my daughter's laughter.

At times we sink, at times we fly,
At times we laugh until we cry,
It doesn't matter, her and I,
As long as we're together.
I hold her hand and speak of fears
That I've kept hidden all my years,
Her eyes smile at me through her tears,
She lifts me as a feather.

I draw her close when she gets sad,
And tell her that it's not so bad,
We can't miss what we've never had,
Our bond cannot be broken.
For she's my darling one, my own,
And as the years have passed and flown
She's ever young and still not grown,
Our love cannot be spoken.

But, dreary days with dark rains after,
How I miss my daughter's laughter.

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
