On Graduation Day

On Graduation Day

Lord, when I've done what You have willed,
This one thing I would pray:
When my purpose has been fulfilled,
I do not want to stay.

I would not ask to linger on,
Though there are those I love;
Still, I would rather take my leave,
And live with You above.

Though earthly things would bind me fast
And hold me here below;
I loose them as I go along,
For in my heart I know...

That these temptations of this world
Will pass and fade away,
I only long to see Your face
On Graduation Day.

--Connie

"Now we look forward with confidence
to our heavenly bodies,
realizing that every moment we spend
in these earthly bodies
is time spent
away from our eternal home
in Heaven with Jesus."
(2 Corinthians 5:6, LB)

About the Poet
IN MEMORIAM I'm just a servant of the Lord that wants to magnify Him through poetry, and to cause others to focus on Him.
