Today's Church
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

           Today's Church

God’s house should be a family place

Loving and showing care

A place where man can seek God’s face

In many forms of prayer

Within God’s presence sit a while

Ask Jesus of The Way

To dance, to sing, to laugh and smile

To praise Him while we may

Yet oft God’s house is damp and cold

Where few serve Jesus true

Traditions date from days of old

Without God’s Lamb in view

She needs to feed the Father’s flock

With milk with wholesome meat

To firmly stand upon The Rock

And learn at Jesus’ feet

To ask of Christ the church’s Head

To free and make us whole

Receive of Him life’s daily bread

For body heart and soul

In days of old, before Christ came

New wine was something strange

Though still God’s Word remained the same

Religion, brought much change

Through Jesus! God renewed the form

A few returned to stay

Their stone like hearts again grew warm

Yet what about today?

God’s righteous path must so remain

The church; must change her way

People would soon return again

Strange doctrine led astray

We come in hope of living Bread

Life’s Truth to hear and see

Where even angels fear to tread

Yet love would have us be

So burdened is the church of man

The future far from bright

While man’s routine must run to plan

But God’s are out of sight

The church could win still countless souls

Could show the lost we care!

But man set oft too high the goals

And yokes one cannot bear

Not all the churches act this way

Not all have grown luke-warm

Those Spirit filled, will truly stay

Riding above the storm

The Lord will build a church so good

With living stones of Light

Where children serve The Way they should

Where all is true and right

But first the church has need to change

As Jesus’ bride and queen

Where self; put last is no more strange

And righteous love is seen

No more can churches act as dumb

In modern times, so blind

It can’t expect to cast a crumb

No starving soul can find

The bride can no more sit and wait

As though her work is done

The Gentile’s time, is running late

Now soon, we’ll meet God’s Son…..

About the Poet
I never wrote a word of poetry in my life. Till the day Jesus took my hand and touched my soul.....I invite your response. However most poems are not about me! Very few are. But the feed-back good, bad or indifferent is always desired. Not meant to offend, but I write about many things in many a guise. Of life, death, lost, found, saved, backsliders, new comers, repenting souls, doubting hearts, heathens, Christians, fire, water, Satan's daughter, wallowing in sin, saved, made sound walking in Light, graceful righteous. Suffering, ecstatic, bored, excited, sad, delighted, Sick, well, lame, able, living, dying, etc. etc. etc. Writing about anything, everything and everyone as the spirit leads. All meant to reveal, waken, revive, encourage, shame, help. Gladden, pick up, exalt, portrait, liberate. Again over 99% of my work is not about me. Although at times I write as though I were or am. Speaking e.g. in the first person. This is quite common even in the bible itself. Prophets speak of themselves, then God speaks, again the prophet, then God......Quite often it's difficult to distinguish whom it is that at any given time is speaking or narrating.
