                                                    Stars Re-Appear at Susa

Brave Queen Esther, Hadassah to her kin

prayed for three long days with fasting and strife

displaying rare courage as a noble wife.

When two grand banquets she was led to serve,

she conveyed brilliance, a light from within.

With each of them she throws a gracious curve.

Hamen, self-appointed king's right hand man

felt very honored to dine with his king,

proposing  royal robes and horse to bring.

But Mordecai was honored on the street.

so the enemy could not work his plan.

Hamen's wise men prophesied his defeat.

Esther was ready as all things panned out

to request her people's deliverance;

she charged the heinous Hamen with vengeance.

Hamen and sons hung on the gallows he'd made.

for Mordecai the Jew now second in clout

who favors his kinsmen's welfare and aid.

Though His name's not recorded in the book,

Doubtless God helped the Jews defend themselves;

Decree to kill them just stayed on the shelves.

God's people once in exile now celebrate

with fasting and feasting, what they undertook

at Susa, Purim, King Xerxes the Great.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
