written in Pleiades form

for the National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2009
Orison

Our blessed Father, in whom we find our true worth,
Order the thinking of our leaders here on earth,
Occupy our nation in these upside-down days.
One and Only Redeemer, Your standard we raise -
Off’ring up repentance for grace we can’t merit,
Obeying the calm, rousing voice of Your Spirit,
Oversee our land and bring Your crucial rebirth.

Note:  Pleiades is a modern poetry form (1999).  It has a one-word title and seven lines

all starting with the same letter as the title word. I made each line 12 syllables long

and also included  rhyme (neither is required). Pleiades is a seven-star cluster

in the sky, mentioned twice in Job and in Amos 5:8.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
