Fully Rely on God

Fully Rely on God

a retourne

Fully relying on God's sovereign grace,

spurning no more what I know is His light,

I've made a pledge to let Him set the pace.

He'll help me win though I run without sight.

Spurning no more what I know is His light,

quickly renouncing all "right" to success,

gaining the courage God brings to this fight,

mission's ordained that I'd prayed He'd suppress.

I've made a pledge to let Him set the pace,

lifted in heart, I am filled with suspense.

Trusting God's perfect support, I will face

guilt and rejection from those on the fence.

He'll help me win though I run without sight,

welcoming limits, esteeming God's cost.

He'll track the course; I'll depend on his might

awed by the treasure which I could have lost.

written as a retourne, this statement of belief after a time of backsliding is truly a return to all that God has in escrow for those who commit their lives to Him.

About the Poet
Growing older with some pains and discomfort, graying hair, glasses, partial plate and hearing aids but with complete assurance of my eternal domain. Saved by choice by Gods free grace by Jesus life, death and resurrection. Born and bred in the Bluegrass State for 24 years, I crossed the Ohio River and became a Hoosier forever thereafter until that time God calls me to my heavenly home. Christian for fifty-five plus years. Church musician and SS teacher for most all of my Wednesdays and Sundays. Public school teacher for thirty-six school terms; retired with a class now of three grandchildren off and on during the week. Wife for half my life to the same superman. Mama to two unique sons. Mother-in-law to a fine daughter; Nana to one darling girl and two handsome guys. God has blessed me abundantly; thank you, Father. God quiets my hackles; God quickens my heart; God quells my hunger. Blessed be His holy name.
