Mary and Martha

Mary and Martha

Mary and Martha had a lesson to impart,
thru them Christ revealed the issues of the heart...
God's message is timely, as men are still the same,
worthy to repeat, and urgent to proclaim!

Mary sat at Jesus' feet and satisfied her thirst,
she put aside her tasks and listened to Him first.
Martha was too busy running here and there,
concerned about her duties with little time to spare.

Jesus hoped that Martha would come and take a seat
next to her sister Mary, who lingered at His feet.
Martha missed her chance to hear what Jesus said,
because she felt her duties should come first instead.

Isn't it remarkable that even now He asks
that we linger at His feet and put aside our tasks?
Like Mary and Martha we must make a choice,
when we hear the sound of the Master's voice!

About the Poet
Christian since 1973, widowed in 2007, but by the divine appt. of God, I married a wonderful, godly widower in Oct. 2010. Three grown, married sons and eight grandchildren. My first love is Jesus who inspires my pen, for apart from Him I can do nothing! I desire to honor the Lord and edify readers thru poetry He inspires.
