GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
14 Enjoy prosperity while you can,
but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.
Remember that nothing is certain in this life.
- Ecclesiastes 7:14(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?” - John 11:25-26(New Living Translation).

If we had no winter the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. - Anne Bradstreet -

NOTES
Today has been another very warm mostly sunny day with high temperatures in the mid nineties and with a heat index well over a hundred. I had lunch with Charley and then to the post office. I have been inside in the cool most of the day. I did go out to sit in the back yard with the cats after 7:00 p.m. It was still a little warm but sitting outside enjoying God's world and the cats was well worth enduring a little warm weather. I read until it got too dark and then continued to sit for a while until 9:00 p.m. before I came in.
The cats are fine. Little Girl on the couch. She was outside for a little while this evening but I guess she decided it was much more comfortable under the air conditioning. Rascal was in a little while ago and the rest are around somewere either inside or on the back porch or maybe outside.
At 10:20 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 83 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. - 2 Timothy 2:21(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
39 The Lord rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him.
- Psalm 37:39-40(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today was cloudy this morning but cleared this afternoon. Another very warm day with high temperatures in the low nineties and a heat index above 100 degrees. If you didn't know the heat index is what the temperature actually feels like. Today I had lunch with Charles. I had a low tire so I went to a convenience store to get air. The air was free but I had to go inside to get a connector for the air hose. I got the connector but I couldn't get it hooked up so I took it back inside and told the girl it did'nt work and started to leave. A young lady was there and she said she knew how it worked and would help me. Sure enough she came out with me and hooked up the connector and put air in my tire. I tried to give her a tip but she said she only wanted a hand shake. I shook her hand and said "God Bless You." She said she would take the connector back inside the store. She was my angel for today. I then went by the post office and Walmart. I attended church tonight. I got home around 8:15 p.m. and sat with the cats in the back yard until 9:00 p.m. I have made lots of friends in my 84 years on earth. I don't have enemies as far as I am concerned. I now have lots of friends inside the church, outside the church and also a host of e-mail friends. Two of my good friends attend the church that I attend. They are Curtis and Debra Schock, a married couple with several children and grandchildren. Debra is really an encourager to me with her e-mails. I received an e-mail from her this morning which made my day and I asked her if I could share it on Good Things. She gave me permission so at the end of Good Things tonight I will share her letter with you.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is on the couch. I haven't seen Rascal in a while so I will go find him when I finish the Good Things.
At 10:55 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 83 degrees. I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett. Here is Debra's letter:
Good Morning Everett,
Has already been a blessed week, with YOU feeling better and us being "witnessed",
by the Good Things!! I don't always get the chance, or the time, to let you know
each day, how much the scripture readings mean and also apply to our own lives - if we just let the Lord into our hearts and use them as our own daily "tool". I enjoy the
reading also of the Daily Jewell from Pastor. A few lines in yesterday's message went: Riches are not only found in bank accts. & treasure chests, but also in our own family relationships!! How true - and we sure consider YOU and our own church family a very much valued wealth in our lives.
The temps sure have been HOT, but don't we feel a "cool breeze" when we hear the birds chirping their own melodies, the beauty of all the "paintings" that God created in our scenery we view each day, plus the FUN he had with his own colors in the different flowers that we are able to see and smell. I know, when reading about your own back yard - all the beauty and glorification that you, yourself see each day when you are sitting and relaxing, also watching the playful cats at your feet and adding to the many creations we Thank our Lord for.
Wishing You a day of sunshine and smiles, Everett and may you feel some "cooling relief" as you cherish your memories, value your friendships and enjoy the view today of ALL the Lord has blessed us with.
Life is worth the Living, just because He Lives!
In Christian Love and Friendship,
Debra
