Saturday, August 30, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
5 The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand; - Psalm 121:5(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19(New International Version).
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
It's wiser to choose what you say than to say what you choose. - From Reminisce Magazine -
There is a longing in every heart that only Jesus can satisfy. - From Our Daily Bread -
We make a living by what we get . . . we make a life by what we give. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Taco Bob's was closed today so around noon time I went to Long John Silver's for my lunch. While I was out I went to Walmart for my weekly cat and human supplies. I got home at 2:00 p.m. and went to sleep with Smokey. I woke up around 4:00 p.m. and Smokey was not with me. He was hiding somewhere because it was thundering. We had a good rain while I was asleep. I received almost six tenths of an inch of rain. I put treats outside for the cats at around 6:45 p.m. I watched the Lawrence Welk program at 7:00 p.m. from 1981. I have seen most of the Lawrence Welk programs that are shown but I keep watching them. Thanks for your mail and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal is asleep in the recliner chair, Lucy is on the back of the sofa and Smokey is on a tv tray. I guess I will have to relax on the sofa tonight. I have seen all of the kitties this evening.
Have a wonderful Sunday. Everett

Good Things
Thursday, August 28, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. - John 20:30-31(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
4 He (the Lord) will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. - Psalm 91:4-6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Our Savior lived a perfect life, yet He also knew the pains of a broken world. - Bill Crowder -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
For joy that will last, always put Christ first. - From Our Daily Bread -
It's more pleasant to give than to receive - especially medicine and advice. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Old folks know more about being young than the young know about being old. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 93 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I took my nap with Beau and Smokey. I put treats outside for the cats at 7:20 p.m. Not much to report tonight. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Friendly is lying on the back of the sofa, Lucy is lying in the floor and Smokey is lying on a tv tray. I have seen all the kitties this evening.
Have a nice Friday. Everett.

Wednesday, August 27, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
89 Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures. - Psalm 119:89-90(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord said) 10 "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:10-11(New International Version)/
A QUOTE:
In Christ our Savior we are well-loved. - David McCasland -

It's not the distance you travel but the direction that counts. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 93 degrees. Stephanie came at 8:30 a.m. and cleaned my house. She did another wonderful job. I plan to keep her for a while. I had lunch with Charley. I came home and took a nap with Smokey. I put treats outside for the cats at around 7:30 p.m. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things.
I have more sad news to report tonight. Dorothy, one of our dear church members and dear friend to everyone who knew her, passed away suddenly this morning. It is a shock and sadness to everyone who knew her. Pastor JT sent a note out a little while ago and I have his permission to include it in the Good Things tonight. His note will be at the end of the Good Things.
My cats are fine, Lucy, Rascal and Smokey are with me at present. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett.
Here is Pastor JT's note:
I want to thank everyone for the responses we have received regarding Dorothy's passing. I, like most of us were shocked at the news. I do not have the time (nor the emotional ability) to go into any details at this time. It is enough to say please breath a prayer once you read this for her family as they are processing this, especially for her son Brian as this is a very difficult journey for him.
It has been almost four years since Dorothy came back into our lives and she had an immediate impact upon the Church. She has served on the Church board for the past couple of years as well as willingly going to District Assembly as a delegate. She became a very active participant in our "Widows" Ministry and was always in the middle of anything that was happening!! She was, in every sense of the word, not only a Saint, but a genuine Christian! She will be missed, not just for what she contributed, but for HOW she contributed to the Kingdom...with passion and enthusiasm. She loved the Church because she loved the Lord!
That her passing is so quickly on the heels of our brother Gaetano's home-going just further emphasizes how blessed we have been to have had such incredible individuals as a part of our congregation and I feel especially privileged to have been their pastor and friend.
Once we have information regarding a date and time of her services I will get that out. I will be meeting with her son Brian tomorrow to help walk him through the funeral arrangements as well being a sounding board for him. As I mentioned earlier, please keep this man in prayer. Pastor J. T.

Tuesday, August 26, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. - Hebrews 3:12(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
29 "I tell you the truth, Jesus replied (to His disciples), "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields - and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life." - Mark 10:29-30(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
There are two voices telling us where to invest our lives. It's risky business to follow the wrong one. - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
In a crisis, rise to the occasion but don't hit the ceiling. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Talking comes by nature, silence by wisdom. - American Proverb -
The Bible is God's love letter to us. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 97 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. Then I went by Walgreen's to check on my prescription. They were out of that medicine so they sent me to Country Mart. I then went to the Petsense store for canned cat food. I took a nap with Beau and Smokey. At around 4:00 p.m. I went to Country Mart and picked up the prescription that I had placed an order for earlier in the day. I took treats outside to the cats at around 7:30 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Lucy is the only one with me at present and she is stretched out in the floor. I have seen all of the kitties this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett

Good Things
Monday, August 25, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. - Romans 5:1-2(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:22-23(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and just be my friend. - Albert Camus -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Because God never sleeps, we can be at peace. - From Our Daily Bread -
Remember that you are not only the salt of the earth, but the sugar as well. - From Reminisce Magazine - Those who say it can't be done should get out of the way of those who are doing it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been another of those hot sunny days with a high temperature of 97 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office. I took a nap with Smokey and when I awakened, Beau was also stretched out with us. At around 3:00 p.m. I got out in the heat for about 20 minutes and took a prescription to Walgreen's to be filled. I could have called it in but it takes longer to fill a prescription when you call it in and I needed it and it also had to be approved by my doctor. At 7:30 p.m. I took treats outside to the cats. Thanks to those who sent birthday greetings and thanks to everyone who reads the Good Things
The cats are fine. Lucy is lying in the floor. Rascal just left the desk beside me. I have seen all the cats this evening. I haven't seen the skunks since we put out the moth balls but I have also stopped putting out food for the stray animals.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett
