Good Things
Sunday, August 24, 2014(Happy Belated Birthday Everett. Que)
GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance. - 2 Thessalonians 3:5(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Life is but a brief moment between eternities. There is no better time than now to assess the values which are worthy of our existence on earth. - James Dobson -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A task worth doing and a friend worth having make life worthwhile. - From Reminisce Magazine -
All creation is an outstretched finger pointing toward God. - From Our Daily Bread -
Forgiveness is God's gracious offer; repentance is our grateful response. - From Reflecting God -
NOTES:
Today has been a hot sunny day with a high temperature of 97 degrees. I didn't make it to church today as my daughter Treva was here and was going to go home later in the day. She left for Topeka, Kansas, at 12:10 p.m. and called me around 6:20 p.m. that she and Libby had made it home safe and sound. We have had a wonderful time the past two days. Treva arrived about 6:10 p.m. Friday evening. We had ham sandwiches and chips for supper that I had purchased earlier in the afternoon. Yesterday (Saturday) was my 89th birthday. We had lunch at Taco Bobs Fiesta Grill. Those at the lunch were Audie (my cousin from Moore, Oklahoma), Sherry (Audie's daughter from Moore), Doug (my second cousin from McAlester), Charley (my brother from McAlester), Treva (my daughter from Topeka, Kansas) and JT (my wonderful pastor from McAlester). We had a nice time visiting for about an hour and one half. Last evening, Treva and I went to the Rib Crib for our evening meal. I appreciate Treva making the hot drive to McAlester to celebrate my birthday and also for inviting several people to the birthday luncheon. Several more were invited but couldn't make it. My daughter, June, is scheduled to arrive here from Hawaii on September 7 and stay until September 27. We will have another get together with relatives at that time. I appreciate your emails and I appreciate each one who reads the Good Things. I will try to hang in here as long as I feel led to do the Good Things.
The cats are fine. When Libby {Treva's dog} is here, some of my cats don't hang around as close except Tony, Smokey, Rascal and Beau come in quite often. The others show up for food. Tony stays in all the time and is not concerned about Libby since Libby stays in her room with the door closed most of the time ( a couch potato).
I gave the cats their treats outside this evening at around 7:30 p.m. I am not going to leave food out anymore for stray cats since I have been feeding at least a couple of skunks instead of cats. Treva put some moth balls under the storage house last evening since we heard that might drive them away. Old Everett doesn't want to kill the skunks, just run them away.
Have a nice Monday. Everett

Good Things
Thursday, August 21, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. - Romans 8:6-8(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 14 "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man (Jesus) must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life." - John 3:14-15(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Let's ask the Lord to help us not to engage in harmful talk about others. - Marvin Williams -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Never say what you think without thinking. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Repentance means hating sin enough to turn from it. - From Our Daily Bread -
Those who sow courtesy reap friendship, and those who plant kindness gather love. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 92 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. Brianna was our waitress today. I went to the post office and then to the Petsense store. I went to the dental clinic at 2:30 p.m. for my scheduled appointment. At around 3:15 p.m. I lay down for my nap without a cat. I got up about 5:15 p.m. At around 7:30 p.m. I put treats outside for the cats. Thanks again for reading the Good Things and thanks for your emails.
The cats are fine. Smokey is lying on a desk near me. Lucy and Rascal were here but just left out. I have seen all the kitties this evening.
I hope everyone has a nice Friday. Everett.

Wednesday, August 20, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Lord. you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. 2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - Psalm 90:1-2(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
When we selflessly love our neighbors, we are expressing our love for God. - Marvin Williams -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Be faithful - and leave the results to God. - From Our Daily Bread -
There's nothing wrong with having nothing to say unless you say it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
What's the use of having an enemy if you can have a friend? - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Surprise, surprise, I said I wouldn't do Good Things tonight but I can change my mind, can't I? Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 92 degrees. Stephanie came at 8:30 a.m. from the professional cleaners and cleaned my house. She did an outstanding job as always. When she gets through there is certainly nothing left for me to do. I had lunch with Charley today. I came by the post office. I took a nap this afternoon. Itty Bitty was with me part of the time and Smokey was with me part of the time. I put treats outside for the cats at about 7:30 p.m. Thanks so much for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things. Let me know if you have problems with the size of the print tonight.
The cats are fine. Lucy is the only one with me at present but Rascal was here a little while ago. I have seen all of the kitties this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett

(Jesus said) 14 "You are my friends if you do what I command." - John 15:14(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

A QUOTE:
Eating lunch with a friend. Trying to do a decent day's work. Hearing the rain patter against the window. There is no event so commonplace but that God is present within it. - Frederick Buechner -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Christlike love is seen in good works. - From Our Daily Bread -
The hardest part of a job is getting started. - From Reminisce Magazine -
There won't be time to dwell in the past if we keep busy today. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 93 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. Brianna was our waitress today. I went to the post office and then came home. I just can't bear to be outside in this hot weather. I took a nap with Itty Bitty. I have felt better today, especially this afternoon and evening after my nap. I put treats outside for the cats at around 7:20 p.m. but I sure didn't stay out long because it was still very hot. I appreciate the emails that I receive from everyone, from Washington state, from Oregon, from California, from Maryland, from Illinois, from Texas, and many from Oklahoma and phone calls from Arizona. If I missed your state and you have written to me recently, I apologize, and you let me know and I will mention it next time. I do appreciate every one who reads the Good Things. You don't have to write me, just so you read and enjoy the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Smokey is on the desk near me and Rascal is lying in the floor close to my shoes that I kicked off a little while ago. I have seen all of the kitties this evening.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett

Great mountains of happiness grow out of little hills of kindness. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Let your light shine - whether you're a candle in a corner or a lighthouse on a hill. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 86 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We had the usual good service with singing, testimonies and Pastor JT's sermon titled "Connected to The Community." I haven't felt up to par the last few days and almost decided to miss church today but I am so glad that I didn't miss. I think I have allergy problems making my head swim a little at times. My right shoulder blade also hurts a little when I move too much. I had lunch at home, took a nap with Itty Bitty, put food out for the cats at around 6:20 p.m. and got the garbage ready and on the street around 7:00 p.m. Thanks again for you emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Smokey is on a desk near me. Emmy, Friendly and Rascal are in the kitchen having a bite of canned food. I have seen all the kitties this evening.
Have a good Monday. Everett
