(Happy Belated Birthday Everett. Que)

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:

5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance. - 2 Thessalonians 3:5(New International Version).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

(Jesus said) 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16(New International Version).

A QUOTE:

Life is but a brief moment between eternities. There is no better time than now to assess the values which are worthy of our existence on earth. - James Dobson -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:

A task worth doing and a friend worth having make life worthwhile. - From Reminisce Magazine -

All creation is an outstretched finger pointing toward God. - From Our Daily Bread -

Forgiveness is God's gracious offer; repentance is our grateful response. - From Reflecting God -

NOTES:

Today has been a hot sunny day with a high temperature of 97 degrees. I didn't make it to church today as my daughter Treva was here and was going to go home later in the day. She left for Topeka, Kansas, at 12:10 p.m. and called me around 6:20 p.m. that she and Libby had made it home safe and sound. We have had a wonderful time the past two days. Treva arrived about 6:10 p.m. Friday evening. We had ham sandwiches and chips for supper that I had purchased earlier in the afternoon. Yesterday (Saturday) was my 89th birthday. We had lunch at Taco Bobs Fiesta Grill. Those at the lunch were Audie (my cousin from Moore, Oklahoma), Sherry (Audie's daughter from Moore), Doug (my second cousin from McAlester), Charley (my brother from McAlester), Treva (my daughter from Topeka, Kansas) and JT (my wonderful pastor from McAlester). We had a nice time visiting for about an hour and one half. Last evening, Treva and I went to the Rib Crib for our evening meal. I appreciate Treva making the hot drive to McAlester to celebrate my birthday and also for inviting several people to the birthday luncheon. Several more were invited but couldn't make it. My daughter, June, is scheduled to arrive here from Hawaii on September 7 and stay until September 27. We will have another get together with relatives at that time. I appreciate your emails and I appreciate each one who reads the Good Things. I will try to hang in here as long as I feel led to do the Good Things.

The cats are fine. When Libby {Treva's dog} is here, some of my cats don't hang around as close except Tony, Smokey, Rascal and Beau come in quite often. The others show up for food. Tony stays in all the time and is not concerned about Libby since Libby stays in her room with the door closed most of the time ( a couch potato).

I gave the cats their treats outside this evening at around 7:30 p.m. I am not going to leave food out anymore for stray cats since I have been feeding at least a couple of skunks instead of cats. Treva put some moth balls under the storage house last evening since we heard that might drive them away. Old Everett doesn't want to kill the skunks, just run them away.

Have a nice Monday. Everett
