Good Things
Monday, March 17, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. - Romans 15:1-2(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are His house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. - Hebrews 3:6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Everyone who enters the kingdom of God comes through the narrow door of self-denial, of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus. - Ralph Earle -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Compassion is needed to heal the hurts of others. - From Our Daily Bread -
Leave everything a little better than you found it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been another day to wish someone hadn't gone away for some of us. For others you still have your mate with you. Whether you are a woman or a man, if you still have your mate with you, go get them now and read the Good Things together. Go ahead now and do it. Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 59 degrees. I had lunch with Charley and Bill. I went to the post office for my mail. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey. I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks to each one who sends an email. Thanks to everyone who reads the Good Things.
The cats are fine. I have seen all of the little fellers this evening. Emmy just came in for a bite of food and went back outside. Leo is on the sofa and Rascal is in the recliner chair, now where am I going to sit? I will transfer Rascal to the computer chair and I will take the recliner until he gets ready to move to my lap.
Have a nice Tuesday.

Good Things
Sunday, March 16, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. - 1 Timothy 6:10-11(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
17 He (Jesus) is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. - Colossians 1:17(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. - Jim Elliot -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A mistake is evidence that someone tried to do something. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Because God is in control, we have nothing to fear. - From Our Daily Bread -
Digging a hole is the only job where you can start at the top. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a cloudy day with a strong wind from the north direction. The temperature at present is 39 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We had a wonderful service as usual with the singing, testimonies and Pastor JT's sermon titled "What is the Cross Doing With You?" I had lunch at home. I took a long nap this afternoon. I am not sure how many of my nine cats napped with me. Around 7:30 p.m. I put the garbage out on the street for pick up in the morning. Thanks for your emails and thanks to everyone for reading the Good Things.
I would like to welcome Teri Black to the Good Things. Teri attends the same church that I attend. Welcome to the Good Things, Teri, and share them with your husband, George.
My nine cats are fine. You that have been with the Good Things for a while know how much my cats mean to me. Four of the cats were with us before my dear wife passed away and the other five have joined me since I lost my wife. I used to send pictures of them with the Good Things but I don't know how to do that any more and I am too old to learn. I don't know how I would have made it without my cats the past six years. My cats know their names and most of them respond to their names. I don't call my cats with the "kitty, kitty, kitty," that a lot of people do. I simply call out "come on whatever their name is" or "come on kitties" and they will come. The names of my cats are Beau, Emmy, Friendly, Itty Bitty, Leo, Lucy, Rascal, Smokey and Tony. They are my family and mean a lot to me as well as my human family that I don't get to see very often.
Have a nice Monday to start the week.

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of God. - Ecclesiastes 3:13(New International Version)

A child is someone who passes through your life and then disappears into an adult. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The more you read the Bible, the more you'll love its Author. - From Our Daily Bread -
Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes away today's peace. - Passed on to me from Imogene -

I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. I appreciate your emails and I appreciate each one that reads the Good Things. I don't know how much longer the Good Things will last. This old coot is getting old and tired but I want to take care of my cats as long as I live.

I took my nap this afternoon with Smokey. I put treats and food outside for the animals at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow we will have soup for lunch and will give a donation for the good cause. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
Our friend, Bill Derichsweiler, who has lunch with us often, will have surgery next Thursday, March 20, at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They will remove one of his kidneys. I know that Bill would appreciate your prayers. The cats are fine. Emmy, Rascal and Tony were with me but all three of them just went out the front door. I have seen all of the cats this evening.
Have a nice Friday.
