The Star

The Star

Contained within a single star
the hopes of Christians near and far.
A child of royal birth is born,
destined to rule before the earth was formed.

A humble stable in Bethlehem
brought light and peace to those condemned.
The point at which the wise men sought
and still, the wisest of them all are taught.

Reaching from God's omnipotent hand
our Lord and savior touched this land,
and cried into the morning frost
for Mary and Joseph and all the lost.

Shepherds and angels and powerful kings
rejoiced to heaven's unfolding wings.
The gift of gifts to Adam and Eve,
the light that guides the heavenly keys.
