Good Things
Sunday, November 15, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
19 A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all. - Psalm 34:19(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. - 2 Timothy 1:7(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
As God's Word spreads from our heads to our hearts, sin loses its power over us. - Julie Ackerman Link -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A godly life is a fragrance that draws others to Christ. - From Our Daily Bread -
Don't let yesterday use up too much of today. - From Reminisce Magazine - Don't wait for something to turn up; go dig for it. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a cloudy day with a high temperature of 39 degrees that occurred at 9:45 a.m. this morning. It has gotten much colder through today and the temperature is now 27 degrees. We have had light snow showers this afternoon and it may be still snowing a little. I don't think we have over an inch on the ground. I didn't attend church today. It was cloudy this morning and cold and I wasn't sure what time the snow would arrive. I live alone and travel by myself. That may not be a good reason to miss church but that is what happened. I napped some this morning and a little this afternoon. Of course I had lunch at home as well as my evening meal. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Emmy, Leo and Rascal are in the den with me and the others are inside now. They go out once in a while to see what is going on. Itty Bitty and Smokey just came in. All eight of them are inside and accounted for now.
Have a nice Monday if you can with the cold weather, Everett.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
1 The Lord is my light and my
salvation -
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life -
of whom shall I be afraid?
- Psalm 28:1(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
We can count on God to provide for us when life is unsure.
- Cindy Hess Kasper -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Greener pastures often have higher fences.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
Let God's Word fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your life.
- From Our Daily Bread -
Well done is better than well said.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 41 degrees. I had lunch with Charley, Bill, Denton (our nephew) and Pastor JT. I went by city hall to pay my water, garbage and sewage bill. I then went to the post office and then to Walmart before I came home. I took a nap with Tony. I put treats outside for the cats at around 4:30 p.m. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things. Information on Don's condition in the next paragraph.
*****************************
Here are words from Pastor JT on Don's condition:
He was first diagnosed with a brain bleed which is what sent him to the ER and in reality that is what happened. However, the source of that was finally discovered as of late yesterday, that a tumor was the source of the bleed. He did have a blood clot removed yesterday as well and although things are looking up...he has a long journey to recovery and he is not entirely out of danger. It is, however, far more encouraging than some of the news we had heard a couple of days ago.

The cats are fine. Leo is on the sofa and Rascal is in the recliner chair. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Saturday,
Everett

Wednesday, November 12, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. - Romans 8:11(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal home in heaven, not built by human hands. - 2 Corinthians 5:1(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Where there is no faith in the future, there is no power in the present. - Harold E. Kohn -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
God blesses us so that we can bless others. - From Our Daily Bread -
Life is an escalator. You can move forward or backward; you can't remain still. - From Reminisce Magazine -
You are never fully dressed until you wear a smile. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy and cold with a high temperature of 37 degrees. Stephanie came at 8:30 a.m. on this cold November morning and cleaned my house. As always, she did an outstanding job in taking care of my house. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. At 1:15 p.m., I went to my eye doctor, Dr. Dunagin, for my six months check up. Nothing much has changed in my eyes. I took a nap with Rascal and Tony. Rascal now sleeps with me in the daytime the same as at night. I went quickly outside at around 4:30 p.m. and left treats for my cats. They want their treats regardless of the temperature, even though some will come back inside in a little while. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things. I have a special prayer request in the next paragraph.
Don Henderson, a good friend and fellow church member, had a brain hemorrhage this morning and is in critical condition in the O U Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Surgery may be performed. Don and his wife, Wanda, are two faithful readers of the Good Things as well as others. Just two days ago at church they were telling me how much they appreciated the Good Things. We certainly need to pray for Don, Wanda, (who is in failing health also) and their children and the rest of the family. I will keep you updated as to his condition.
The cats are fine. Leo is asleep on the sofa and Rascal is asleep in the recliner chair. The rest are inside somewhere except Emmy who went outside a few minutes ago. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Thursday, Everett.

17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." - Romans 1:17(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
4 Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, 5 that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. - Psalm 106:4-5(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. - Mother Teresa -

God's way is the right way to go. - From Our Daily Bread -
Live your life so you don't have to hide your diary. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The greatest of all faults is to imagine that we have none. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 79 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I took a nap with Emmy, Rascal and Tony. Rascal sleeps with me a lot at night but seldom sleeps with me in the daytime, but he did today. I went to Country Mart at around 4:00 p.m. for a few items. I put treats outside for the cats at 4:45 p.m. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me at present but I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett

NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 64 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I went to a tire shop and got the air checked in my van tires and then I went to Memory Gardens before I came home. I took a nap with Emmy. At around 4:30 p.m. I put treats outside for the cats. Right now I have the Lawrence Welk program on television going. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal and Tony are with me now. Emmy and Leo just went outside. I have seen all of them.
Have a wonderful Sunday. Everett
