GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
1 Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. 2 Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! - Hebrews 13:1-2(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs." - Matthew 6:31-32(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
If one does not kinow to which harbor he's headed, there is no such thing as a good wind.

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
The truest happiness is found in making others happy.

Thirty days hath September, April, June and November; all the rest have 31 except January and February, which seem to have 80. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been mostly sunny with high temperatures around 90 degrees. I had lunch with Bill Derichsweiler, Charley, and Joel Kircher. I came by the post office, Country Mart and Walmart. I took a nap. Rascal had to snuggle up real close and sleep with me. Leo and Smokey also joined us but they didn't snuggle. I sat with the cats this evening. I am going to leave you with a poem tonight written by my niece, Lucille Hails. She lost her husband several years ago. The title of the poem is "Lonely In A Crowd," which is really the truth at times. If you have never lost a spouse you really don't understand the feelings. I realize you may get tired of me talking about Flonnie, but she is on my mind all the time. I have three pictures of her in my bedroom, one is before we were married, one is a few years after we were married and one is the last portrait she and I had made together where she has her hands around my hands. Anytime I wake up and there is light I can see all three pictures. Then I will start talking to her and crying. I have asked God to let her hear me when I talk to her. As I have said many times if you would like to be removed from my address list, all you have to do is tell me and I will understand. The picture tonight is Everett preparing to eat a piece of his birthday cake. I don't know what Rascal is trying.
The cats are fine. Rascal just came up on the desk to eat a bite and check on me.
At 10:40 p.m skies are fair with a temperature of 79 degrees. I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett.
Here is the poem:
LONELY IN A CROWD - By Lucille Hails -
Alone and lonely in a crowded room---
A smile on my lips, though not in my heart.
I talk with others, but how can they know
That when I lost you, my world fell apart.
There's no longer joy awaiting the dawn---
Only sleepless nights to dread a new day.
I'm no longer held in your sweet embrace,
Hearing, "I love you"----since you went away.
Our lives had become so deeply entwined---
We shared the same thoughts---our hearts beat as one.
Being together was such a delight.
You were my anchor---I was your sun.
Way back in our minds, we knew that, someday,
One of us would get the call to "go home".
We chose not to face what might lie ahead:
But savored our days before they were gone.
We enjoyed our dreams---we treasured our love.
Still the "time"did come---the "call" was for you.
Your soul was ready---your body was tired.
You're now with the Lord: but what do I do?
Now, back in that room where laughter rings out,
The crowds mill around, feeling all is well.
My smile covers up a sad, broken heart---
Alone and lonely: though no one can tell.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
1 So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. 2 Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, 3 now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. - 1 Peter 2:1-3(New Living Translation)
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
19 God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
- Numbers 23:19(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with high temperatures in the low nineties. I had lunch with Charley and then to the post office and on to a Dollar General Store. I got my lawn mowed and my house cleaned this afternoon. So if you want to come see me you might ought to come tomorrow while my house is clean. It will not be cleaned again for two weeks. I didn't receive many comments from my story last night about where Rascal came from. I didn't get an "Amen," neither did I get an "Oh Me." Maybe I should stop writing about Flonnie and me because she is not here to correct me if I get something wrong. I will say that she was the best cook, homemaker, mother and wife that a man could ever have. When she would be riding in the van with me and I cut a corner too short and hit the curb she would always say "You Curbed It." I hit a curb today and how I wished that I could have heard "You Curbed It." The picture tonight is Ron sitting with Smokey, Beau, Emmy and I am not sure who the other cat is.
Here is my story for tonight:
Tomorrow is Sunday, a day that I, along with many other people observe as the Sabbath. My father died in 1929 when I was four years of age. My mother never remarried after that. We lived on a farm and many times we would have to work six days in the week. I never remember a time when we had to work on a Sunday, no matter how badly the the farm work needed to be done. My mother always took us to the little country church on Sunday. I left the farm in 1943 at the age of 18 to go into the Army. From that time until I was 28 years of age my attendance at church was sporadic or not at all. In 1946 I married Flonnie. In 1947 our first daughter, Treva, was born. In 1948, our second daughter, June, was born. In May, 1953, our son, Ronald, was born. During all those years I seldom attended church. Many times on Sunday, I would sit at home and read the Sunday paper while someone else would take my little girls to Sunday School and church. That all changed in September, 1953, when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and became a Born Again Christian. Since that time there have been very few Sundays that I have not been in church. I believe that God has given me reasonably good health because I have honored Him all these years by attending church when the doors are open. That is my story for tonight.
The cats are fine. Rascal has been coming in occasionally to check on me.
At 10:45 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 75 degrees. Have a Wonderful, Worshipful, Restful Sunday. I will see you tomorrow if the Lord is willing.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
11 The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace
- Psalm 29:11(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. - Ephesians 2:8-10(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with high temperatures around 90 degrees. I had lunch with Charley, then I went by the post office and then to Walmart to fill my van with gasoline and buy cat food and some more items. If you read "My Answer" by Billy Graham that I send out most every morning you will notice this morning that I put in the subject line "Good Things." Well, that is not too far off from correct because his answers are good things. I sat out with the cats this evening until dark. I want to tell you a story about a cat tonight but it will be in the next paragraph.
The cats are fine. Rascal was lying on his back here in the floor a little while ago. That is the picture for tonight. Some of you wanted to know how I got Rascal. Some of you already know. About a month and a half after Flonnie went to Heaven I was sitting here in the den one Sunday night. I had put some left over fried chicken in the floor by my chair for the cats when they would come by. I happened to look down at the bowl of chicken and there was a strange kitten eating the food. He looked to be about a month or so old. I said "Where in the world did you come from? I don't need another cat." The cat door was open like it aways is so my cats can go in and out as they please. After the kitten had eaten a while I took him outside so he could go back to where he came from. It wasn't a minute until he was back inside. At that time I had two or three cats that Flonnie had called outside cats and made them sleep on the back porch at night. That is where I put this little Rascal. Treva came down to visit and she would pick up the kitten and he would always be purring. I told Treva that I should give the cat away because I had enough cats. I called around to see if the vets would take the kitten to give it away. They said a kitten had to be in perfect health to be given away. This kitten had a large stomach and it appeared to have an eye infection. I took the kitten to Dr. Richardson and he immediately said the kitten had round worms which was causing the large stomach. He confirmed that the kitten had an eye infection. He said he would like to keep the kitten a day or two and treat it. After a day or two I picked up the kitten and by that time I had decided to keep him. On Memorial Day week-end my daughters were visiting and we went to the cemetery to place flowers on Flonnie's grave. Treva and I were sitting at the foot of one of the large monuments that are scattered throughout the cemetery. She said, "Dad do you remember at Mom's funeral that I had Earnest (the minister who preached the funeral) tell the audience that Flonnie was leaving behind 9 felines to keep Dad company." I said "Yes, I remember." She said "The thought came to me at that time that Mom was going to send you another cat." Then it dawned on me that Flonnie had sent me that cat. Treva was already thinking that. We had named the cat Rascal. As I so often write in the Good Things, Rascal is always coming in to get a bite of food here on the desk and we butt heads. When he has been out a while and comes in he always finds me and I pet him. Some of you will have no problem believing that Flonnie sent Rascal and some of you might be a little skeptical (Rascal just came in to check on me and is now lying at my feet). The reason that Rascal had something wrong with him when he came was so I wouldn't give him away. Just remember that all things are possible to them that believe. I have previously told you about Flonnie walking down the street on May 20 of this year dressed in a beautiful light green pant suit and waving to me. She was young again. That's my story for tonight.
At 11:05 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 80 degrees. I will see you tomorow if the Lord is willing.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. - Romans 4:20-21(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. - Galatians 6:7-8(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with high temperatures around 90 degrees. I had lunch with Bill and Charley. I went to the post office, came home and took my afternoon nap. Later I went back to the post office to mail a letter. I sat outside with the cats this evening and read a little. Some of the cats always stay with me until I come after it gets dark and the street lights come on. The picture tonight is Little Girl.
When I came home from the Army, Flonnie was a senior at Gerty, Oklahoma, high school. Her parents had moved out of the Gerty school district to the Calvin, Oklahoma, school district. Flonnie wanted to finish the year and graduate at Gerty so she was boarding with a lady at Gerty. After two or three dates I wanted to be with Flonnie whenever I could so I might just drive down to Gerty any night of the week when I had the car. My brother, Charley and I would take turns using the 1938 Ford coupe. Gerty was about 20 miles from where I lived at Stuart, Oklahoma. Sometimes Flonnie would know I would be there on a certain night and sometimes she wouldn't know. We didn't have telephones. When I would come see Flonnie unexpectally she would always get ready real quick and we would usually go to a movie at Holdenville, Oklahoma. Sometimes my cousin, Audie, would come with me and I would usually let her drive after we picked up Flonnie. After I had a few dates with Flonnie, the love bug had really bitten me so I figured it was time to pop the question. Flonnie and I were in a darkened movie theater one night. It was the Grand Theater in Holdenville. I had my arm around Flonnie and I whispered to her, "Do you still love me?" She came back with "Whoever said that I did?" That was Flonnie, she always had a funny come back to a question. Then she admitted that she did love me and from then on we started planning to get married. Am I still boring you?
The cats are fine. Rascal was just in to check on me.
At 10:45 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 76 degrees. I will see you tomorrow if the Lord is willing.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said to the disciples) 24 "I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours." - Mark 11:24(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.”
6 So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”
- Hebrews 13:5-6(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with high temperatures around 90 degrees. After lunch I came by the post office and then home and took my afternoon nap. After I got up from my nap I went out again to a Dollar General Store, Country Mart and Walgreens. I sat out with the cats and read for a while this evening. I had several favorable comments on my story about Flonnie and me. My grandson, Chris, sent me an e-mail saying he liked hearing about his grandparents in our younger days. I don't have time to write any thing tonight but I will some more in later Good Things. The picture tonight is Itty Bitty having a snack.
The cats are fine. None are with me in the den at present but they are not too far away.
At 11:00 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 78 degrees. If the Lord is willing I will see you tomorrow.
