GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
9 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. - Colossians 2:9-10(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
Say the truth and shame the devil.
- Hugh Latimer -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
People don't care how much you know unless they know how much you care.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
I am running late tonight. I had lunch with Charley, J. T. Carnell and Bill Derichsweiler. I went by the post office and Walgreens. I saw my brother, Abe, and wife, LaFerne, at Walgreens. I sat outside for a couple of hours this evening. Be sure to let me know if you want to continue with the Good Things if you haven't already notified me.
The cats are fine.
I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
6Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." - Revelation 14:6-7(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
3 Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
- Psalm 37:3-4(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
If we do not abide in prayer, we will abide in temptation.
- John Owen -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
If it is to be, it is up to me.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
The Good Things are going out tonight to a few people who do not regularly receive them. If you would like to continue to receive the Good Things which go out most every night, then send me an e-mail. Otherwise you will not receive them again. To those who receive the Good Things every day, I would like for you to send me an e-mail by next Monday, May 31, and tell me that you want to continue to receive them. If I don't hear from you I will drop you from the list because I will assume that you don't want them or don't read them and I don't want them cluttering up your mail box. Today has been mostly sunny in McAlester, Oklahoma with a few occasional clouds. High temperatures were in the high eighties. As usual, I had lunch with my brother, Charley, at Taco Bob's Fiesta Grill. This afternoon I went to some stores to do a little shopping. I have 8 cats plus a stray that has made herself at home and now she thinks she belongs to me. Her name is Lucy and she waited 10 months for me to come back home while I was living in Moore, Oklahoma last year. I sit outside with the cats every evening, read a little, and the cats have come to expect me to come out around 6:30 p.m with some cat treats. I sit out there for an hour or so and read and watch the cats do various things. As most of you know, my dear wife, Flonnie, went to Heaven a couple of years ago. We owned some of the cats before she died. The cats are now my family and are so much company to me. Tomorrow, May 25, will be Flonnie and my 64th Wedding Anniversary.
The cats are fine tonight. Most are outside at present but the doors are open so they can come in anytime they choose.
At 10:45 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 78 degrees. I will see you next time, probably tomorrow night.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
19 How great is the goodness
you (O Lord) have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world.
20 You hide them in the shelter of your presence,
safe from those who conspire against them.
You shelter them in your presence,
far from accusing tongues.
- Psalm 31:19-20(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
26 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. 27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. - James 1:26-27(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
Life is much like a vapor; it appears, and soon it is gone. Let us leave something eternal for others to build and stand on. - Harold W. Turner -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
A Sabbath well spent brings a week of content.
- Author Unknown -
It takes less time to do a thing right than it takes to explain why you did it wrong.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with high temperatures in the mid eighties. Since I live alone, I have an arrangement with my family that I will call my daughter, Treva, every morining at 8:30 a.m. to let her know that I am okay. If I don't call her she starts trying to call me. This morning I got up at 6:30 a.m. and knew that it would be two hours before I called Treva. I came out here to the den and forgot to bring the phone and then got busy on the computer and completely forgot to call Treva. At 9:00 a.m. she tried to call me but the phone was in the living room and I am in the den and I couldn't hear it. Treva tried several times to call me but there was no answer so she got real concerned and called my borther, Charley, to come check on me. He has a key to my house. He was also very concerned because he too had tried to call me earlier to tell me that we needed to eat at an earlier time than usual. About the time Charley arrived at my house around 9:30 a.m. I remembered that I hadn't called Treva. She had left me a message on the phone but she was quite upset when I called her but happy that I was okay. Oh the joy of getting old! After lunch I went by the post office and a couple of stores. I came home and rested for a while and about the middle of the afternoon I went to the back yard and trimmed some bushes and trees. This evening I sat with the cats in the back yard for an hour or so.
The cats are fine. Leo and Rascal are asleep on the back porch and the rest are outside at present.
At 10:45 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 78 degrees. I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
1 A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare.
- Proverbs 15:1(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 39 "If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it."
- Matthew 10:39(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
It is a happy talent to know how to play.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
Courtesy, politeness and smiles are all contagious. Be a carrier.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with high temperatures in the mid eigties. I made a trip to Walmart after going to the post office. I usually see someone I know while shopping at Walmart and today was no exception. I sat outside with the cats and read for about an hour and one half this evening. It was a beautiful evening.
The cats are fine, all outside at present. While I was sitting out this evening the cats found a tiny snake just a few inches long. They seemed to take turns playing with it while following it through the grass. I suppose most yards have these tiny little snakes in the grass. If you had cats they would find then for you.
At 10:15 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 73 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. - James 1:2-4(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
- John 3:3(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
Keep open and friendly relations with God, family, and neighbors.
- Dr. Joseph C. Aldrich -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Every so often, invite the person in line behind you to go ahead of you.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
You shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.
- Author Unknown -
NOTES
The rain started last night around 11:00 p.m. and lasted off and on until almost daylight. Today has been mostly cloudy until late in the afternoon and skies cleared. High temperatures today have been in the upper seventies. We are not supposed to have any more rain for several days according to the long range forecast. Otherwise, it has been a normal day. I sat out with the cats and read for about an hour and one half this evening. I have been listening to the Oakridge Quartet again in one of their very early recordings.
The cats are fine. They really enjoy me sitting in the yard with them in the evening. One of them might be sitting in a chair near me. Others may be playing or trying to catch flying insects. Little Girl is now on the couch here in the den.
At 10:10 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 68 degrees. I will see you next time.
In Christian Love, Everett.
