The Fight

The Fight

During a bout of self absorbtion
with gloves tied on tight.
I decided to stand toe to toe
and fight the perfect fight.
My feet were like feathers
as I shuffled like a pro.
Threw my jabs and right crosses
and danced across the floor.
Landed a few on the nose
and one upside the head.
But a punch then came from nowhere
that turned my legs to lead.
Then in an all out flurry
my opponent gained the upper hand.
A loud thump then sounded in my ears
as on the mat I did land.
Then the numbers started.
From one on the way to ten.
By now I'd lost the will to fight
and decided not to rise again.
Throw in the towel, I mumbled.
Get me out of here!
Before I'm beaten to a pulp.
Where are you Jesus...where?
Then hands scarred in the battle
for glory He had won.
Lifted me back to my feet
and now I fight beside God's Son.
