A Friend's MotherMy deepest sympathy friend
In the losing of your mother
Of all the human beings on earth
There is closeness like none other
The one who bore you as a child
And watched you become a man
Has a special place in your heart
That only God can comprehend
The wonderment of human life
Being birthed forth from the womb
So closely knit that bond of love
Only severed by tomb
But great that joy that wells up within
When we entertain the thought
Our meeting again on the other side
Look what our God has wrought!
He who gives the breath to live
Is present at its last
And carries spirits to their home
To await the trumpet’s blast
Mothers again with their sons
And daughters at their side
Shall reminisce in eternity
With the Messiah and His Bride
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Good Things
Wednesday, May 14, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. - Psalm 68:19(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits - 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. - Psalm 103:1-5(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
How much more wonderful the marvels of this world appear when we know the One who made them all . - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
May you love abundantly, live abundantly, and leave a legacy rich with integrity. - From I Wish For You -
The most difficult kind of climbing is getting out of a rut. - From Reminisce Magazine -
When you're weary in life's struggles, find strength in the Lord. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with occasional light rain showers during the day. High temperature was 65 degrees. As usual I had lunch at Taco Bob's Fiesta Grill with my brother, Charley. Also joining us was our friend, Bill, and my pastor and wife, JT and Dianne Carnell. I went to the post office for my mail and didn't receive any mail today. While I was out I went to the Petsense store for cat food and then to Walmart for my weekly supplies. I took a nap this afternoon. My cat, Beau, was waiting for me to take a nap, and later my cat, Emmy, came to join us and finally my cat, Rascal, joined us for a nap. I only have nine cats so I usually have at least one join me for my afternoon nap. I put food and treats outside for the cats at around 6:10 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks to everyone for reading this old man's Good Things. They changed the format in my computer again today so I hope everything comes through fine and is readable.
The cats are fine. Two cats are in the den with me now. Leo is asleep on the sofa and Rascal just got out of the recliner chair. I have seen all of my cats this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett.

AZYThere once was a cat named Azy
She was hyper and playful and spazy
She bothers the other three cats
She somersaults like she's on mats
She has shiny black fur and is snazzy

Tuesday, May 13, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord says) 25 "I, even I, am He who blots our your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Isaiah 43:25(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 7 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." - John 15:7-8(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Open your hearts to the love God instills... God loves you tenderly. What He gives you is not to be kept under lock and key, but to be shared. - Mother Teresa -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A traffic rule on the road of life - when you meet temptation, turn to the right. - From Reminisce Magazine -
I hope you always look up . . . higher and higher . . . and see life's endless possibilities. - From I Wish For You -
The more we understand God's love for us, the more love we'll show to others. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 66 degrees. I had lunch with Bill today. Charley had to make a trip to Muskogee, Oklahoma for a doctor's appointment. I didn't go with him because I had an appointment with my eye doctor here in McAlester. I went to the post office. My appointment with my eye doctor was at 1:15 p.m. Everything is about the same with my eyes. The pressure was close to where it should be. I am going to get a new pair of eye glasses as soon as I take the time to make an appointment with an optometrist. I took a nap later in the afternoon with Smokey. I put food and treats outside for the cats at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks for your mail and thanks for reading the Good Things. Let me know if you are having problems with anything in the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal and Smokey are here in the den with me at present, Rascal is in the recliner chair and Smokey is lying in the floor not far from where I am sitting. I have seen all my babies this evening (don't laugh).
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett.

Super MomI would like to have her powers
Hours and hours and hours
Doing whatever she likes
She bikes she hikes never goes on strikes
She’s moving and doing and always pursuing
Teaching and buying and cleaning and sewing
And I believe my mom is all knowing
Mopping and chopping and shopping
She seems to never be stopping
Now that I think of it
I don’t want her powers
I think I’ll just buy her some pretty red flowers
Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:
