Good Things
Tuesday, May 27, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it only leads to evil. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. - Psalm 37:7-9(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. - Psalm 121:7-8(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Endeavor to live so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry. - Mark Twain -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Achievement begins with belief. - From Go For It -
If you're looking for guidance, follow Christ as your guide. - From Our Daily Bread -:
The memories we collect and give brighten our lives as long as we live. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Hey folks, I'm back. Did you miss the Good Things for three days? If you did, why not let me know and that way I will know whether to continue with them as long as I am able. Today has been a cloudy day with occasional rain this morning, around noontime and this evening. High temperature was 76 degrees. My daughter, Treva, and I have enjoyed being together the past three days. We drove to Holdenville, Oklahoma, on Sunday to decorate some graves and had lunch with Gina and June (not my June) from Tulsa. We also visited with Earl and Melba who live in Holdenville. Treva left for home at 10:00 a.m. today and I heard from her this evening and she had made it home safely with her dog and cat. She had to bring one of her cats as she was taking pills for a urinary tract infection. The cat's name is Sophie and she is one of the friendliest cats that I have ever seen. She took right up with me and would come sit in my lap a lot of times. Treva drove home in the rain part of the way. Treva wants to come see me at least every six weeks but that is a lot of driving for her so I encouraged her to wait longer. I had lunch today with Charley. I had a dental appointment at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon and when I was just about to the dental office, I got a call on my cell phone that they would have to cancel my appointment because something had not come in for me. I am getting a new set of dentures. I just went on in the office and got my appointment rescheduled for June 12. I put treats outside for the cats around 5:35 p.m. and sat with them until just after 6:00 when the rain blew in. I may drop you from the Good Things if I don't hear from you (just kidding).
The cats are fine. Lucy and Rascal are with me in the den at present. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday. Everett

SoundsOf all the sounds we love to hear,
Including a small bird's chirp
None will ever mean as much
As the sound of baby's first burp.

Mother's Day Never EndsHow can fathers fully fathom
Deepest depths of mother love
Only God in all His wisdom
Love's Great Architect above
Understands that inner bonding
Through nine months preceding birth
Can't be severed by swift cutting
Unseen cords criss-cross vast earth
Linking children with their mother
Over miles that intervene
Near or far from one another
Nothing really comes between
Mother's arms life's softest cradle
Warming milk with mirrored smile
Long lost mem'ries oft enable
Feelings to suffuse awhile
Nothing alters her affection
Though some deem her offspring strange
She allows for imperfection
When life's times and seasons change
Sacrifice is never too great
Work for her has no known end
Children's slave and husband's helpmate
Others too on her depend
Mother's day is never ending
Always one more thing to do
Clothes or sometimes hearts need mending
Making things as good as new
Loving deeds are all recorded
Children rise to call you blessed
By God's grace you'll be rewarded
Darling you're the very best

Pitter-PatsGentle pitter-pats come tapping
'gainst window outside are rapping
frothy breath misting warm glass
more restless beat the pitter-pats.
Strong winds eastward now come blowing
from lamplight dull lume is glowing
moist leaves swirl in conjoined dance
embracing 'gainst frail creaking glass
Fearful feet from storm run dashing
flee t'ward structures now down crashing
unaware of beacon Light
upon far hill is shining bright.
Thankfully rest people kneeling
on this hill are joyful feeling
beacon Light now warms each soul
who sought its safety from gales cold.
Gentle pitter-pats cease tapping
'gainst window outside once rapping
frothy breath withdraws from glass
thank You Dear Lord! for storms that pass.
________ Isaiah 4:6 ~ And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the day time from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
Isaiah 25:4 ~ For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Friday, May 23, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen. - 2 Peter 3:18(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

A QUOTE:
Dear Lord, before this day shall end, use me to help some wayward friend.
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Beginnings are wonderful things - they're free, they're full of possibilities, and everyone gets a new one every day. What will you do with yours? - From Go For It -
Something for nothing often costs too much. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The rewards of witnessing are will worth the risks. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 87 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office and then to a Dollar General Store for a few items. I took a nap. Rascal napped with me for a while and then Smokey came along. At 3:40 p.m. I went to the Ford Garage for a service job on my van. As I came home I stopped by McDonalds and brought home some food for my evening meal. I put food and treats outside for the cats at about 6:10 p.m. and sat with them for several minutes. I had five chairs lined up side by side. I was in one chair and Itty Bitty was in one, Lucy was in another, Smokey was in another and Friendly was in one. Rascal was walking around on the ground. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading this old man's Good Things as long as I feel like doing them.
My daughter, Treva, is coming to visit tomorrow for three days so there will be no Good Things tomorrow night and I am not sure when they will be back. For those I attend church with, I will not be in attendance on Sunday as Treva and I are going to Holdenville, Oklahoma, to decorate some graves.
The cats are fine. None are with me now but they have been around and will be back. I have seen all of them this evening. Leo gets on top of the house and jumps off to my van.
Have a nice Saturday. Everett
