Good Things
Friday, May 30, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. - 1 Peter 3:7(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? 18 Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 19 This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His (Gods) presence 20 whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and He know everything. - 1 John 3:16-20(New International Version}.
A QUOTE:
The only one who never makes mistakes is the one who never does anything. - Teddy Roosevelt -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Love is the heart of the home. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Love what you do . . . do what you love. - From Go For It -
With God behind you and His arms beneath you, you can face whatever lies ahead of you. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 81 degrees. We had a few sprinkles of rain around 4:00 p.m. I had lunch with Charley and Pastor JT. I went to the post office and then I went by the CVS store for some items. Some items were on sale. I took a nap this afternoon with Tony. I put treats out for the cats a little after 6:00 p.m. and sat with them until 6:30 p.m. and then came in for my evening meal. Thanks again to everyone for your emails and for reading the Good Things. I am hanging in here doing my best to put out something interesting or something that might help someone.
The cats are fine. Leo, Lucy and Rascal were here a few minutes ago but have now gone elsewhere. Leo jumped off the top of the house on to my van a little while ago. I have seen all of my cat friends this evening.
Have a nice Saturday. Everett

This is a poem I read Saturday night at a gala for RAM (Reading,Arts and Mathmetics) summer enrichment for children in my community, where we raise donations. The title of the affair was "Planting seeds and watching them grow"..I am on the Board of Directors.PLANTING A SEED!
Planting a seed and watching it grow - saturating and watering it every
day - little by little, step by step - we watch it grow into a glorious
harvest - planting a seed and watching it grow in fertile ground the
possibilities are endless - the destiny placed inside by God’s loving
Hands will come forth strong and indestructible - strengthened by the
gifts of many teachers, family and friends -implanted forever in the soul
of a small life shaped by a caring heart that will never be forgotten - for
we have taken the time to love, inspire and encourage - by
Planting a seed and watching it grow! Planting a seed of hope and dreams for the future - there is no greater
reward than to see the light come through in the smile of a child -
whose heart is set free - open to receive and believe for a better
life- planting a seed and watching it grow - will forever be
remembered and multiplied - the gifts and talents that were hidden
inside - will come forth like spring flowers of yellow, red and purple - a
vibrant, beautiful garden - the seeds of greatness unlocked by the key
of patience, kindness and caring - of those who saw the need and
Planted a seed and watched it grow!

3 His (God's) divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. - 2 Peter 1:3(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
One of Life's great rules is this: The more you give, the more you get. - William H. Danforth -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Before you know what direction to take, you have to know where you are. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Good-byes are the law of earth; reunions are the law of heaven. - From Our Daily Bread -
To make a difference in this world, you must first dare to be different. - From Go For It -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 86 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I took a nap this afternoon by myself without a cat. We had a light shower of rain just after 5:30 p.m. that lasted only a few minutes. I put treats out for the cats at around 6:30 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Lucy is the only one with me at present but Rascal was here just a few minutes ago. I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Friday. Everett

EvidenceWhen I feel despondent
I remember how You lifted me
from an empty life
When I am sinful
I remember that You
have forgotten
When I feel alone
I remember that You
are always with me
When I am afraid
I remember that You
are in control
When I feel insignificant
I remember that You
count me as special
When I am insufferable
I remember Your
humility
When I feel unable
I remember that You make
all things possible
When I feel incompetent
I remember that
You gifted me
When I think I am in command
I remember how much
I need You
When I am in doubt
I am reassured by the evidence
of Your Presence in my life
It is enough

Wednesday, May 28, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord said to Job) 41 "Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?" - Job 38:41(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(Jesus said) 4 "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned." - John 15:4-6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Every calling is great when greatly pursued. - Oliver Wendell Holmes -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Christians at war with each other cannot be at peace with their heavenly Father. - From Our Daily Bread -
Life is more interesting if you don't have all the answers. - From Go For It -
The greatest happiness is giving to others. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 82 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I then went to the Petsense store and Walmart for weekly supplies and cat food. I took a nap this afternoon. Smokey was with me part of the time. Around 4:00 p.m. I went to the Vet Hospital to pick up flea treatments for my cats. I had my evening meal around 5:45 p.m. I put treats out for the cats at around 6:15 p.m. I sat with them for about 30 minutes reading a book by Gloria Gaither titled "Something Beautiful." Bill and Gloria Gaither have written over 700 songs.
I sure appreciate the emails that I received from you friends telling me you missed the Good Things. I heard from several people and I know you were sincere in what you wrote so I will continue with the Good Things for the present. I appreciate everyone who reads the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Rascal is lying on the desk beside me snoozing. Smokey was here a little while ago. He got up near my computer and was trying to help me do the Good Things so I had to put him down in the floor. He has now gone somewhere else. I have seen all the kittens this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett
