Friday, March 21, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord said) 10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. - 2 Thessalonians 3:3(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
For the followers of Christ, death is not a goodbye; it is a "see you later." - Bill Crowder -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Biscuits and sermons are improved by shortening. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Once lost, now found. Eternally thankful! - From Our Daily Bread -
People who matter are aware that everyone else does, too. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been another day on the road to wherever we are headed. It has been partly cloudy in McAlester, Oklahoma, with a high temperature of 75 degrees. My iphone says a thunderstorm is approaching but it is not here yet. Charley had to make a trip to Checotah, Oklahoma, today for some dental work so I had soup with several ladies from our church. I had potato soup today with cornbread, cake and ice tea. I would tell you the names of the ladies, but I might leave someone out. After lunch I went to the post office for my mail. Then I made a trip way out to the south part of McAlester to Locke Plumbing to buy some filters for my heating/cooling system. I came back by Wall's store and looked around but all I bought was a few flowers to put on Flonnie's grave. Wall's is a big store that sells lots of things from stores that have gone out of business for one reason or other, so you never know what you will find at Wall's. I took a nap with Beau and Tony. I called Bill this afternoon and he said he was doing ok and would come home tomorrow. I put food outside for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks to everyone for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Emmy is on the sofa, Rascal is on the desk near me and Tony was just here in the floor but he has gone somewhere else. I have seen all the cats this afternoon. There was a new cat outside this evening, a solid gray color. It was not scared of me so it might be someone's pet. We will see if it stays around. It will not go hungry. If it were not for my cats my nights would be so lonely and the days would be long.
Have a nice Saturday.

Urgent Prayer Request
From Geneva Poynter: Pray as the case of Religious Freedom comes before the Supreme Court on Tuesday March 25. A couple of companies do not want to pay for insurance for abortions for their employees based on firm religious conviction. May the Supreme Court realize the importance of maintaining full religious freedom in this nation.Good Things

3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. - Psalm 68:3(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. - Philippians 4:6(New International Version).

The work that Christ is doing in believers can result in an influence far greater than any book they might write. - David Roper -

Good, better, best - never let it rest until the good is better and the better best. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Those who cook up stories usually find themselves in hot water. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 70 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office and then to Walmart for my weekly supplies and cat food. I took a nap this afternoon with Emmy. I put food out for the outside animals around 6:00 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Lucy has been rubbing my legs and being friendly. Now she is on the back porch with Smokey. Rascal is on a desk near me now where I can pet him once in a while which he likes and will sometimes purr for me.
Have a nice Friday.

Good Things
Wednesday, March 19, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:21(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
5 But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: 6 Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did. - 1 John 2:5-6(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
As we lovingly provide our children with godly instruction from God's Word, we should encourage them in their interests and giftedness so that they might become all that God has planned for them to be. - Dennis Fisher -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
A book shut tight is but a block of paper. - From Reminisce Magazine -
As the years add up, God's faithfulness multiplies. - From Our Daily Bread -
You can't change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust your sails. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 57 degrees. I had lunch with Charley, Bill, Ray Poor and his wife. Bill was on a liquid diet today so he had a bowl of tomato soup. Remember to pray for Bill tomorrow as he will have surgery at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They will remove one kidney which has cancer and hopefully he can make it on the other kidney without dialysis. I went to the post office. I had a nap with Beau and Friendly. At 6:00 p.m. I put food outside for the animals. Thanks to each one who sends an email and thanks for reading the Good Things.
You might also say a prayer for God to comfort the hearts of Wayne and Mary Jo Holt and their family who live in Oregon. They lost old Bob yesterday, a cat that was 22 years of age. I know how it hurts to lose a pet.
The cats are fine. Leo and Rascal are with me at present, Leo on the sofa and Rascal in the recliner chair. I have seen all the cats this evening except Lucy, the former stray but she might come in later. I think she was here this morning.
Have a nice Thursday.

Good Things
Tuesday, March 18, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. - 1 John 4:9-11(New International Version)
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
19 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of the wicked, 20 for the evil man has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out. - Proverbs 24:19-20(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Though heaven may be delayed, God has His reasons. - David Roper -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Better than counting your years is making your years count. - From Reminisce Magazine-
Without a shepherd, sheep are not a flock. - Russian Proverb -
True humility credits God for every success. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 73 degrees. We have had a strong breeze from the south direction. I had lunch with Charley and Bill, however, Bill will not eat with us tomorrow as he will be on a liquid diet in preparation for surgery on Thursday. I went to the post office for my mail, to the CVS store for some bargains, to Walgreen's for prescriptions and to the Petsense store for canned cat food. I took a nap with Beau and Smokey. I put food out for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. I think the quote for today applies to me pretty well. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things. I would like to leave you with something tonight at the end of the Good Things that was in our Sunday's paper about dogs. I love my cats but I have owned dogs that I loved also.
The cats are fine. Emmy and Leo just came in. Rascal has been around but has gone elsewhere. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a nice Wednesday.

A DOG'S PLEA
By Beth Norman Harris
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I might lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the wagging of my tail when the sound of your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I might stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun.
Please see that my trusting life is take gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.
