Good Things

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:

9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. - 1 John 4:9-11(New International Version)

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:

19 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of the wicked, 20 for the evil man has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out. - Proverbs 24:19-20(New International Version).

A QUOTE:

Though heaven may be delayed, God has His reasons. - David Roper -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:

Better than counting your years is making your years count. - From Reminisce Magazine-

Without a shepherd, sheep are not a flock. - Russian Proverb -

True humility credits God for every success. - From Our Daily Bread -

NOTES:

Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 73 degrees. We have had a strong breeze from the south direction. I had lunch with Charley and Bill, however, Bill will not eat with us tomorrow as he will be on a liquid diet in preparation for surgery on Thursday. I went to the post office for my mail, to the CVS store for some bargains, to Walgreen's for prescriptions and to the Petsense store for canned cat food. I took a nap with Beau and Smokey. I put food out for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. I think the quote for today applies to me pretty well. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things. I would like to leave you with something tonight at the end of the Good Things that was in our Sunday's paper about dogs. I love my cats but I have owned dogs that I loved also.

The cats are fine. Emmy and Leo just came in. Rascal has been around but has gone elsewhere. I have seen all the cats this evening.

Have a nice Wednesday.

A DOG'S PLEA

By Beth Norman Harris

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I might lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the wagging of my tail when the sound of your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I might stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun.

Please see that my trusting life is take gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.
