Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OKGOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. - Psalm 100(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. - Psalm 103:13(New International Version).
A QUOTE
When someone does something, applaud! That will make two people happy. - Samuel Goldwyn -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
Great wealth makes us neither more wise nor more healthy. - From Proverbs for Daily Living -
The kind things you mean to say about a person when they are gone, say them before they go. - Author Unknown -
A PET JOKE
A dog thinks: 'Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me and take good care of me ... THEY MUST BE GODS!' A cat thinks: 'Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me and take good care of me ... I MUST BE A GOD!' - From The Internet -
NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 65 degrees and a low temperature this morning of 30 degrees. I saw Charley and Bill at noon time. Before I came home I went to the post office, then the Petsense Store and then to Walmart. I got all my cat and human supplies for the week. I took a nap this afternoon with Emmy and Tony. I put treats outside for the cats at 5:30 p.m. It is still just a little too cool to sit outside with the cats. Since last night's Good Things I have heard from Alice, Burlene, Geneva, Debra and Quentin. I always appreciate your e-mails and I appreciate everyone who reads the Good Things. Let's remember to pray for those who are hurting due to Hurricane Sandy. For my e-mail friends that may be in harms way I am praying for you and hope you receive my e-mail.
I didn't give you the names of the people in the picture I sent last night. They were left to right, June Phillipo (my cousin), my daughter Treva and this old man named Everett. If you would like more pictures, let me know.
The cats are fine. I have seen all of them this evening. Rascal is asleep in the recliner. Emmy, Leo and Tony have all been to my desk this evening for a bite of food.
I hope everyone has a nice Tuesday.
I will see you next time, In Christian Love, Everett.

Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OKGOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." - Matthew 5:13(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 8 “I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. 9 But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God." - Luke 12:8-9(New International Version).
A QUOTE
Wise sayings often fall on barren ground; but a kind word is never thrown away. - Sir Arthur Helps -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap. If you want happiness for a day - go fishing.... If you want happiness for a lifetime - help someone else. - Chinese Proverb -

We had a wonderful service with a good sermon by Pastor J. T. I had lunch at home. I took a nap this afternoon with Emmy, Smokey and Tony. I put treats outside for the cats at 5:30 p.m. I put the garbage out on the street for pick up in the morning.
The cats are fine. Rascal is in his usual place this time of evening in the recliner. Leo came by a little while ago, stood up against my leg and meowed. I followed him to the kitchen and gave him some canned food. I have seen all of the cats this evening.
Have a good Monday to start the week!

CAT POETRY
I received this note today from Michelle in Hollywood, California.
Today I'm leading a poetry writing workshop, and I chose different topics. One is animals (of course) However, I didn't find the poem below until this morning. Mary Oliver is a favorite poet of mine. I hope you enjoy this cat poem by her. Blessings to you, your family & friends, & your furkids. ~Michelle~
Morning
By Mary Oliver,br /> Salt shining behind its glass cylinder. Milk in a blue bowl. The yellow linoleum. The cat stretching her black body from the pillow. The way she makes her curvaceous response to the small, kind gesture. Then laps the bowl clean. Then wants to go out into the world where she leaps lightly and for no apparent reason across the lawn, then sits, perfectly still, in the grass. I watch her a little while, thinking: what more could I do with wild words? I stand in the cold kitchen, bowing down to her. I stand in the cold kitchen, everything wonderful around me.
NOTES
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 55 degrees and a low temperature this morning of 34 degrees. My housecleaning lady came at 11:15 a.m. and cleaned my house while I had lunch with Charley and Bill. After lunch I went by Family Dollar Store, the post office and Memory Gardens cemetery before I came home. I took a nap this afternoon without a cat napping with me. At about 4:45 p.m. I went to Little Caesars Pizza and picked up a pizza to eat for my supper tonight and lunch tomorrow. I took treats outside to the cats about 5:45 p.m. but it was too cool to sit out with them. Since last night's Good Things I have heard from Alice, Geneva and Michelle. I always appreciate your e-mails.
The cats are fine. I have seen all of them this evening. Rascal is asleep in the recliner at present.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday!
I will see you next time,
In Christian Love, Everett.

Daily Jewel
by Pastor Carnell, McAlester, OK“At the Corner of First and Main”
“She's taken her stand at First and Main, at the busiest intersection. “ – Proverbs 8:2 (MSG)
In our first pastorate the house we lived in literally was on the corner of the two busiest streets in the town. West Main Street and Business Highway 61. We loved that house. It was almost 100 years old with a huge covered front porch. A man from the church made us a porch swing (which we still have) and often we would in the evening sit on that front porch and simply watch the traffic go by.,br /> It was an interesting dynamic watching the traffic. I think it was standard procedure that when you got to the corner of Main & 61 it was protocol to “honk your horn!” Something that practically everyone under the age 21 did on a regular basis.
I remember one occasion a man from the church was sitting with us on the porch. We were talking when all of a sudden he stopped and began staring at one of the cars that had stopped at the intersection. Finally he looked over at us and said, “That’s the third time I’ve seen my son drive by! Does he do this all the time?” I couldn’t lie. “Yep! He and every other teenager in town!” “Well, this may be the last time you see him for while.”
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” – Romans 1:18-20
How obvious does the Word of God need to be for you to believe it to be His Word? His Wisdom? What has to happen before it crosses your mind that there truly is something about what He has to say that makes perfectly good sense?
Gilbert West was a noted British educator and author. Sir Edward Littleton was a famous British judge. These two men had one thing in common: both were complete skeptics concerning Christ and Christianity. They not only doubted the validity of the Lord's way of life, they openly opposed it. At one point in their lives, the two men agreed on a joint course of action to "rid the world of this religion of a madman, once and for all," as they put it. They vowed to disprove Christianity for all time. And they would begin by totally discrediting two key New Testament stories: One—the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and two—the conversion and life transformation of the apostle Paul.
Following a long period of research on the two subjects, West and Littleton met to compare their findings. Much to Littleton's surprise, West told him that as a result of his research, he himself had been converted to Christianity. Moreover, much to West's surprise, Littleton told him that he too had become a follower of Christ as a result of his investigations. Two men set out to destroy Christianity and both became Christians after making a serious study of the Faith. This would make a later "skeptic" by the name of C.S. Lewis (who too, became a Christian by researching Christianity) write: "Better be careful about taking this Jesus seriously. You might end up following Him!!",br /> Wisdom is driving down the busiest intersection—honking her horn alerting us to her presence. Are we listening?
Pastor J. T. Carnell
Good Things
by Everett Christian, McAlester, OKGOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus sait) 36" Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." - Luke 6:36-37(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?” 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. - Romans 11:33-36(New International Version).
A QUOTE
A friend is one who is forgiving. - Glenda Hotton, M. A.
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
One kind word can warm three winter months. - Japanese Proverb -
NOTES
Today has been a cool day, cloudy this morning but sunny this afternoon. High temperature this afternoon was 53 degrees. The low temperature this morning was 42 degrees. Our nephew, Denton McNutt, had lunch with Charley and me today. I came by the post office and then home. The day was cool so Emmy and Friendly were in bed when I joined them for my afternoon nap. Soon Rascal came and joined us. He usually doesn't sleep with me during the day. At around 4:00 p.m. I went to Country Mart for a few items. I put treats outside for the cats at around 5:30 p.m. but it was too cool for me to sit outside. Since last night's Good Things, I have heard from Alice, Burlene, Michelle and Dianne. I appreciate your e-mails so very much.
The cats are fine. I have seen all of them this evening. They have stayed inside most of the day. Rascal is asleep in the recliner. Emmy just came to the desk and gave a meow. I guess she was just speaking to me.
I hope everyone has a nice Saturday!
I will see you next time,
In Christian Love, Everett.
