GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
3 "Oh, that we might know the Lord!
Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn
or the coming of rains in early spring.”
- Hosea 6:3(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” - John 4:13-14(New Living Translation).
A QUOTE
The most encouraging word - friend.
- John Van Diest -
A THOUGHT TO REMEMBER
The past is valuable as a guidepost, but not so if used as a hitching post.
- From Reminisce Magazine -
A PRAYER
Grant now your Holy Spirit to guide us to wholeness and the fulfillment of Your will in our lives. Amen.
- From Reflecting God -
NOTES
The day was sunny this morning but clouds came in this afternoon. High temperatures today were in the low nineties. I went to lunch with Charley and saw the McMullen's at Taco Bob's, (Stan, Sue, their daughter Pam and Pam's daughter. I am sorry but I have forgotten Pam's daughter's name). I went to the post office. Later I went to Walgreens to pick up a prescrption. The rest of the time I have been inside until 7:00 p.m. and then I went to the back yard. It was cloudy and cool and even a few sprinkles fell but not enough to send me inside. I came in a little after 8:30 p.m. My friends, Curtis and Debra Schock and their family are going to Illinois on vacation the latter part of the week. Debra wrote me an e-mail this evening. I will not share her complete letter but there is one paragraph that I will share at the end of the Good Things. I sent the Good Things to 50 people last night and asked you to reply to my e-mail. I heard from 27 people so where are the other 23? Let me hear from you if you are reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Little Girl in her favorite place. Rascal hasn't been in lately so I will have to go check on him because he is usually around.
At 11:15 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 78 degrees. I will see you next time.

The paragraph from Debra's letter:
God's Blessings to You, Everett - may the sun shine on your face each day to show you God's goodness, the song of the birds add music to your ears, the beauty of the flowers bring a smile - to remind you of all that you knew your dear Flonnie enjoyed, your cats bring you fellowship and comfort, with the Love of your family and friends may you find contentment and much appreciation. God Is Good, All the Time and All the Time, God is Good!!

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 28"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." - Matthew 10:28-31(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
- Psalm 146:8(New Living Translation)
A QUOTE

NOTES
High temperatures today reached into the mid nineties before the rain shower this afternoon. I attended Sunday School and Worship Service this morning. I had lunch at home. I layed down about 1:30 for my afternoon nap. I woke up a little before 3:30 p.m. I heard a clap of thunder and remembered that the windows to my van were rolled down sitting in my drive way. I ran out and rolled the windows up just as the rain was starting. We had a nice rain. It was still raining just a little when I left for church at 5:45 p.m. When I got to church which is about 3 miles southwest of me it had not rained, just sprinkled a little. Tonight was Fellowship night at the church where we share a meal together and just visit. I got home a little after 7:00 p.m. The rain was gone and the sun was shining so I sat out with the cats until 8:45 p.m. Then I got the garbage ready and on the curb for pick up in the morning. I would like everyone to do me a favor tonight. When you read this hit the reply button and just say "I read the notes tonight" or anything else you would like to say. That way I will know who is not reading the Good Things if there is anyone like that. It won't be a problem for you to reply and I will love you with Christian Love for doing it. I will give people about a week to reply before dropping anyone.
The cats are fine. Little Girl on the couch and Rascal left out a few minutes ago.
At 11:15 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 73 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
11 For his (the Lord's) unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12 He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
- Psalm 103:11-12(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
9 But if we confess our sins to him, he (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. - 1 John 1:9(New Living Translation).

Too many people live as though they are in control of their world, and they are always suprised when they discover, sometimes the "hard way," that the world does not revolve around them! - From Reflecting God -
NOTES
Today has been mostly sunny with high temperatures in the low nineties. I went out for lunch, went by the post office and a Dollar General Store. I have been inside the rest of the day. I did sit out with the cats for almost two hours this evening after 7:00 p.m. It was a cool evening. When I finally decided to come in, three cats were still out with me in chairs, Friendly, Lucy and Rascal. In fact Rascal stayed in a chair by my chair most of the time I was outside.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is on a lamp table tonight instead of the couch. Rascal is lying in the floor not too far from me on his back with his white fuzzy belly showing.
At 10:20 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 78 degrees. Have a Wonderful, Restful Sunday! I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. - 1 John 4:9-12(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." - Isaiah 30:21(New International Version).

NOTES
Today has been sunny with clouds at times. High temperatures were in the low nineties. I had lunch, came by Country Mart, then by the post office. I stayed inside the rest of the day. This evening I sat out and read for over and hour with the cats. There was a nice breeze this evening. I haven't heard from some of you in some time so if I haven't heard from you in a while you might need to drop me a line to let me know that you still want the Good Things. I hear from several people quite often who really want the Good Things to keep coming and that is one thing that keeps me doing them. On the other hand I think God wants them to continue and that is one reason that I think He is keeping here in reasonably good health. But if you don't want them I won't clutter up your computer if you will just let me know. I will understand. I still feel like doing the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is you know where.
At 11:50 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 83 degrees. I will see you next time.

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
(Jesus said) 35 "A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” - Matthew 12:35-37(New Living Translation).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD.
(The Apostle Paul wrote) 9 "I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God." - Philippians 1:9-11(New Living Translation).

NOTES
Today has been another hot mostly sunny day with high temperatures in the mid nineties. I had lunch with Bill and Charley. The only other place I went was the post office so I don't have much news for you tonight. It was cool enough for me to sit out with the cats and read this evening for about an hour. I had an e-mail from a friend who lives at Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her name is Alice Barrett. She gave me permission to share her letter with you. Alice understands my visits from Flonnie.
The cats are fine. Little Girl is on the couch. She is really a couch potato although she does get in my lap sometimes when I am in the recliner. Itty Bitty and Rascal were here a little while ago but have now gone elsewhere. One or two of the cats are in the cool in other parts of the house. Smokey stays inside most of the time. He is a smart one.
At 10:50 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 84 degrees. I will see you next time.

Here is Alice's letter:
Dear Bro. Everett,
'Just want to express happiness that you had a visitation from Flonnie. Don't worry about what some might think or say. We know when we are blessed - and we know from where it comes :) As best I can, I understand your being so anxious to go to see Flonnie - but you have a great purpose here for a while. The thoughts and writings you share are making an impact beyond your imagination. My husband is so blessed when I read your Good Things to him. I copy and send parts of almost every one of them to friends, family or church family - to share the blessing. No doubt many others are equally blessed and share the blessing - hearts are changed because of your inspired Good Things being shared!
Savor that visitation of beautiful Flonnie. Those who don't believe or understand - well they can't because they have never experienced such a blessing.
Alice
