Good Things

by Everett Christian,  McAlester, OK

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

4 Let me live forever in your sanctuary,
safe beneath the shelter of your wings!
5 For you have heard my vows, O God.
You have given me an inheritance reserved for those who fear your name.
- Psalm 61:4-5(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD

14 So be happy when you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you. 15 If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs. 16 But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name! 17 For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News(Gospel)?  - 1 Peter 4:14-17(New Living Translation).

Something to feel nostalgic about is walking through a forest of autumn leaves.

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER

I've learned that if you want to cheer yourself up, you should try cheering someone else up.
- Age 14 -

Recall it as often as you wish...a happy memory never wears out.
- From Reminisce Magazine -

The best way to remove a chip on the shoulder is with a pat on the back.
- From Reminisce Magazine -

To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root.
- Chinese Proverb -

NOTES

Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 68 degrees.  Low temperaure last night was 39 degrees.  I attended Sunday School and Worship Service this morning.  Our speaker today was Marcus Whitworth from Henryetta, Oklahoma.  Pastor J. T. Carnell was in Olathe, Kansas, to see his grandson dedicated.  Marcus did an outstanding job singing and speaking in the service this morning.  I would like to write more about it but it is getting late so I had better finish the Good Things and send them out before some people go to bed.  I had lunch at home and took a nap this afternoon.  We did not have church services tonight since our pastor is out of town.

The cats are fine.  Emmy was just here in the den with Little Girl and me.

At 10:00 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 57 dgrees.  I will see you next time.

In Christian Love, Everett.
