GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

(The Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians) 3 "We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4 For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, 5 which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News (Gospel)."  - Colossians 1:3-5(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD

32 The wicked are crushed by disaster,
but the godly have a refuge when they die.
- Proverbs 14:32(New Living Translation).

It's easier to grow old if we are neither bored nor boring.

One reason grandparents are important is we remember the way things used to be.

NOTES

We had a real nice rain today about the middle of the day.  High temperatures were in the eighties.  The skies cleared this afternoon.  Bill was waiting for Charley and me at Taco Bob's today to have lunch with us.  Well, folks you have convinced me to keep sending the Good Things.  I really didn't realize they meant so much to some people.  Thanks to everyone who wrote me requesting the Good Things to continue.  I will continue them as long as I can.  When my mind starts to wander it might be time to quit but you will have to tell me because I probably wont realize my mind is going bad.  Hopefully the Lord wont let that happen to me.  I appreciate all the comments that I receive every day on the Good Things but I usually don't have time to respond but rest assured they are deeply appreciated.  I am just a country boy.  I was born in the country at home in 1925.  Most babies were born at home back then.  I lived on a sand hill farm until I was 18 years of age and then Uncle Sam needed me in the Army.  That was in World War II.  Not too many veterans are left from that war.  While I was overseas in 1944 I started writing to a girl by the name of Flonnie Manry.  I had seen her just one time.  My cousin, Audie, had introduced me to her.  Audie had been wanting me to meet Flonnie but we lived several miles apart and none of we young people had a car.  Flonnie was with another guy that night but I think they had come to a Revival meeting that night just so Flonnie could meet me.  I didn't see Flonnie any more before I went in the Army.  We started writing to each other in the summer of 1944.  I got out of the Army on January 16, 1946.  My mother had met Flonnie and knew we had been writing to each other.  My mother asked me if I was going to see Flonnie.  I told her that I was going to see her because she had written to me all the time I was overseas.  On January 18, 1946, my cousins George and Audie Christian took me to see Flonnie.  We had a one seated car so Flonnie had to sit in my lap as we went to a high school basketball game.  After I said goodbye to Flonnie that night I knew I would have to see her again.  My cousin Audie and I went to see her the next week and after that I would go see her at least two times a week.  Well, the rest is history.  She graduated from high school about the middle of May and on May 25, 1946 we were married and lived together for 61 years and 9 months.  Flonnie had kept all the letters that I wrote to her and they are still stored somewhere here in the house.  I know that Flonnie and I were meant for each other and I think God saved her for me because we both were 20 years of age and she could have married someone else, but, as I said she was meant for me.  Am I boring you?  If I am, you will probably be bored a lot because I might write some more about my childhood and married life.  The picture tonight is Smokey going somewhere.

The cats are fine.  Little Girl is asleep in my recliner but I will have to move her to the computer chair as I will have to have the recliner.

At 10:40 p.m. skies are fair with a temperature of 70 degrees.  I will see you tomorrow if the Lord is willing.

In Christian Love, Everett.
