GOOD THINGS

By Everett Christian, Moore, OK

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD

(Jesus said) 13 "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future."  - John 16:13(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD

(Jesus said)
10 "God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
      for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs."

 11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way."  - Matthew 5:10-12(New Living Translation).

A QUOTE

On occasion God lets me have something I think I want, and I discover it's not everything I'd thought it would be.  - Shawna Renee Bound -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER

A smile is a language even a baby understands.  - From Reminisce Magazine -

God, as Creator and Lord, can execute judgment any way He wants.  - From Reflecting God -

NOTES

Today has been mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the low thirties.  We didn't get any snow last night.  I attended church this morning.  I had lunch at home.  I slept this afternoon.  The summary of the church service will be in a different paragraph.

The cats are fine.  As I was taking my nap this afternoon different cats would come at different times, namely Beau, Happy, Little Girl and Rascal.

Here is a summary of the Worship Service this morning at Southpointe Church of The Nazarene:

Pastor Doug Vernier gave a welcome and announcements, then everyone greeted each other with some old fashioned hand shakes and hugs.  Gilbert Hockett led the singing with Doug Gulley on the piano and Carol Hockett on the organ.  Praise and Worship songs sung by the congregation were "We Have Come Into His House", "I Will Praise Him" and "My Jesus I Love You."  The Prayer Chorus was "I Give All To You."  Offerings and Tithes were then taken with Rachel Vernier playing the Offeratory on the piano.  The Special Song was sung by Gilbert Hockett titled "Hold To God's Unchanging Hand."  The title of Pastor Doug's Sermon was "Traveling Wise" with Scripture from Matthew 2:1-2.  At the close of the Service, Pastor Doug dismissed with prayer.  At the end of the Good Things tonight I will leave the words to one of the songs we sang this morning.  Sing it if you know the melody, otherwise just read the beautiful truthful words.

At 6:55 p.m. skies are cloudy with a temperature of 25 degrees.  I will see you next time.

In sincere Christian Love, Everett.

I Will Praise Him
Words and Music by Margaret J. Harris
1898

Psalm 109:30
"I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth;
yea, I will praise him among the multitude."

          When I saw the cleansing fountain
          Open wide for all my sin,
          I obeyed the Spirit’s wooing,
          When He said, "Wilt thou be clean?"

            Refrain
            I will praise Him!  I will praise Him!
            Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
            Give Him glory, all ye people,
            For His blood can wash away each stain.

          Though the way seems straight and narrow,
          All I claimed was swept away;
          My ambitions, plans and wishes,
          At my feet in ashes lay.

            Refrain
            I will praise Him!  I will praise Him!
            Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
            Give Him glory, all ye people,
            For His blood can wash away each stain.

          Then God’s fire upon the altar
          Of my heart was set aflame;
          I shall never cease to praise Him
          Glory, glory to His Name!

            Refrain
            I will praise Him!  I will praise Him!
            Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
            Give Him glory, all ye people,
            For His blood can wash away each stain.

          Blessed be the Name of Jesus!
          I’m so glad He took me in;
          He’s forgiven my transgressions,
          He has cleansed my heart from sin.

            Refrain
            I will praise Him!  I will praise Him!
            Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
            Give Him glory, all ye people,
            For His blood can wash away each stain.

          Glory, glory to the Father!
          Glory, glory to the Son!
          Glory, glory to the Spirit!
          Glory to the Three in One!

            Refrain
            I will praise Him!  I will praise Him!
            Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;
            Give Him glory, all ye people,
            For His blood can wash away each stain.
