For Saturday, October 24
SCRIPTURE READING: Hebrews 5:1-5

KEY VERSE: Christ . . . did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, "You are my Son" (Heb. 5:5).
Jesus, God's Model for all Christians
Jesus, God the Son, came to earth as our only Savior to do the Father's will (John 6:38). He will always be the ultimate model of faithfulness to His mission. Jesus' willingness to serve and suffer, to do the Father's will, and to bring eternal salvation to hopeless humanity, continues to inspire the earthly Body of Christ to be the ministering presence of Christ today.

In a day when other world religions are migrating over the globe, this Christ-modeled willingness to minister and witness to hurting humanity, without reservation, continues to identify the real Body of Christ. As Jesus was seen so often in the Gospel accounts as the healer and the forgiver, so we as His present disciples represent Him best as we lay down our resources and our lives to do the Father's will.

As you pray, ask the Father to reveal to you how you, personally, can know and do His will at this time in your life. As you wait in God's presence, listen carefully and patiently. Not until the daily clamor has been stilled can we hear what the Father is saying. It is worth the wait. These are the stories we will tell throughout eternity.
