Pilate's Hands

Without conscience,

we say

all is well

with our sisters

who lacerate wombs,

yank mistakes

and inconveniences.

It is not we

who siphon brains

or scrape the fertile lair.

We cast votes behind curtains

and gloat shamelessly

of our rights.

It is not we

who do the deed.

Innocent of blood

of these just persons,

guiltless hands

color the water,

ignorant participants

of a new crucifixion.
