Good Things

GOOD THINGS Wednesday, February 19, 2014

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD (Jesus said) 10 "If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Fathers commands and remain in His love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." - John 15:10-11(New International Version).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24(New International Version).

A QUOTE Whenever we open the Bible, listen to a sermon, or pause to pray, it's a wonderful practice to say, "Lord Jesus, speak to me. I'm ready to listen and eager to obey." - David McCasland -

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER Everyone either adds to or subtracts from the happiness of those with whom they come in contact. - From Reminisce Magazine -

God doesn't measure on the world's scale. - From Reflecting God -

God speaks through His Word to those who listen with their heart. - From Our Daily Bread -

NOTES Today has been a cloudy day with a little light drizzling rain around 4:00 p.m. High temperature today was 66 degrees. I had lunch with several people at Taco Bob's today. There was Charley, Bill, Denton (our nephew) and his wife, Carol, and Luke (Denton and Carol's son-in-law). Taco Bob's wife, Glenda, also came and sat at our table a few minutes and visited mainly with Bill, their good friend. She drank coffee. They had been to the doctor. She looks pretty good. Bob sat down for a minute and then went on to other things.

After lunch I went to the post office and then to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription. I took a nap with Beau, Emmy and Tony. At around 4:30 p.m. I went out again to the post office to mail some bills. I dropped by McDonald's and got a cheese burger, fries, and an orange drink to bring home with me.

My daughter, Treva, flew from Topeka to Ithaca, New York, today to visit with her son, Bryant and Ashley and little Ella the granddaughter. Treva called around 4:00 p.m. and she had made it and was visiting with Ella. Treva will enjoy baby sitting Ella for a week and then return home. Ashley is in the Dominican Republic for a few days on her job with a group of young people.

This afternoon I got to thinking maybe it was about time to discontinue the Good Things. I have been doing some kind of e-mail for 20 years or more. Then I thought about all the friends that I have through the Good Things, some I have never met in person. I just can't give you up yet as long as I make a little sense with my ramblings and feel up to it. I do have a back problem which hurts a little at times and of course I am lonely and the Good Things help that. Six years ago, this coming Monday, February 24, is when my Flonnie went away and I still miss her so much, especially when things don't seem to be going my way.

The cats are fine. None are with me at present in the den but they have been around and I have seen all of them this evening.

Have a nice Thursday. Everett.

Keep Thinking The Good Thoughts~~!!!
