Fourth of July

July 4, Independence Day for the USA. What does it mean personally? How independent are we as a nation? How independent are we as individuals? If the recent political news of the Big Brother syndrome of our government is any indication we are fast losing whatever independence we had. Self reliance is a nostalgic item of the past. Self indulgence and security have caused all too many to more and more rely on government at all levels. And of course there are those in politics who want it that way hoping to gain control and power. We are wallowing in a very polluted sea of lust for power and privilege. Those who survive are going to find themselves in chains of slavery to the state. That is my commentary on this Fourth of July.
