GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. - Deuteronomy 6:4-5(New Living Translation).

GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD
12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. - 2 Timothy 3:12-13(New International Version).

A QUOTE
"Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, can not long retain it." - Abraham Lincoln - April 6, 1859 -

NOTES
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 67 degrees and a low this morning of 43 degrees. On this Veterans Day there was a free lunch at one place for veterans but Charley and I decided to stay with Taco Bob's. After lunch I came by the post office and then went to the cemetery before I came home. I took a nap this afternoon. Beau and Emmy rested with me today with Smokey checking on us now and then. At 4:15 p.m. I went to Walgreens to pick up a couple of prescriptions. At about 4:45 p.m. I put treats and food outside for the animals. I had a note from Burlene telling what she usually does with her time. I don't think she will mind if I include her letter in the Good Things tonight. If she does mind I will apologize to her on Sunday. Her Husband, Gene, passed away just a few years ago. He was a minister and I worked with him some on our church district. I also had a nice note from Debra and I will also share part of it in the Good Things. I also had nice e-mails from Geneva, Stan, and Tiyan. Tom Gilham ( a former pastor) also sent me a note. I hope all the veterans had a nice Veterans Day. We appreciate all the active duty sevice people as well as the veterans.
The cats are fine. Little Girl and Rascal in their usual place. Little Girl on the back of the couch and Rascal in the recliner. When I finish the Good Things, I always get the recliner but I let Rascal stay in my lap as long as he desires to stay. All the cats have been accounted for this evening.
I will see you next time, In Christian Love, Everett.

Here is Burlene's letter:
There is nothing exciting in my days, but I do have a few activities. I attend church Wednesday nights and twice on Sunday unless hindered by illness or something. I am a member of the hospital auxiliary and go out there on Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday, where I work at the front desk. Also serve on the Auxiliary Advisory Board. Recently the hospital gave all volunteers a complimentary pass to all programs at the Wellness center. (all fees are waived) I go out and walk after my shifts at the hospital because it is close to the hospital and I don't have to drive from home just to walk. I don't swim or use any of the machines. I try to walk at least 20 min. a day 5 days a week either at the Wellness Center, Walmart or around here. Gene and I liked to travel and we went to Israel, Greece, Egypt, Jordan, London, Switzerland, Canada and Mexico. And a few places in the U.S. However that has passed and I hardly ever get out of McAlester now. So glad we got to travel as much as we did. I would not want to take any of those trips alone. That is not very interesting but it is about all I do now. I enjoy hearing about your days, though, and about the cats. Blessings, Burlene

Here are a couple of paragraphs from Debra's letter:
Wishing You a Happy Veteran's Day:) THANK YOU for the service you gave to our country and bless you for being a part of our Freedoms! Also Thanking God this day for You - the many veterans - and the families suffering from the veterans they have lost while serving. God continue to Bless ALL Veteran's and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Thinking of You, today, Everett and know that you have many thoughts and memories as you look back on the years of service and also the many changes you have seen as time has traveled? Curt (husband) was a part of the Army, as the Vietnam War was ending and his service time was just beginning. I can remember the veteran's coming home to America and how terrible they were treated in their homecoming, not to mention all that was done and said during that war time. The coming home of those who have served and died for our country, should be a time of celebration and gratitude. They have given so much and we have so many that overlook that and the sadness we read and see of the homeless veterans the many in need but also the stories of those that are determined to make a difference and to be an example to our Country and to Glorify the God that brought them Home.
