A Homemade Fishing Pole

A Homemade Fishing Pole

Back when I was a young child,
there was nothing like fishing.
I didn't have my own fishing pole,
figured Mom and Dad would say no.
I went looking for a good strong
stick, not too long or too short,
just right. I found what I needed.
A homemade fishing pole.

I made my fishing pole,
then I needed some fishing line.
Or a good strong string, whichever
I could find. Dad had a bunch of
junk in a box. I went thru every-
thing in the box and found what I
wanted. He had all kinds of stuff.
I got lucky and found fishing line.
Kept looking, I found a fishing
hook. Boy, I had it made then.
A homemade fishing pole.

After gathering everything, I made
my own pole. The best fishing pole,
good and sturdy. All I had to do
was get my bait, that was fun. I
used worms, night crawlers when I
could catch them. They're really fast.
I only caught Sun fish, but I was
happy anyway. I was fishing.
A homemade fishing pole.

Author's Note:
I don't recall whatever happened
to my homemade fishing pole.
I either wore it out, or Mom
found it and got rid of it. I'll
never forget that fishing pole.
