Good Things
Wednesday, August 13, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
24 To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy - 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore. Amen. - Jude 1:24-25(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
13 Jesus answered her (the woman at the well) "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." - John 4:13-14(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
We need to keep moving ahead in our walk with God. - Dave Branon -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:

Life is God's precious gift to you - may you spend it bringing glory to Him. - From Prayers and Blessings -
The Bible is a record of man's complete ruin in sin and God's complete remedy in Christ. - Barnhouse - NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a high temperature of 88 degrees. The lady came at 8:30 a.m. and cleaned my house. She did a wonderful job as usual. I had lunch with Charley. I went by the post office. I took my nap this afternoon without a cat sleeping with me. I put treats outside for the cats after 6:30 p.m. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
Tonight I would like to welcome Stephanie to the Good Things. She lives in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Welcome to Good Things, Stephanie, and let me know if you receive this and if you would like to continue to receive the Good Things.
My nine cats are fine. Leo is the only one with me at present. Rascal just left out and others have been here recently. All my cats leave out when the lady comes to clean except Tony and he stays inside. I have seen all my cats this evening.
Have a nice Thursday. Everett

Tuesday, August 12, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. - Proverbs 15:1(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
7 In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. - Ephesians 1:7-8(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
Like an oasis, God's goodness is found in dry and difficult places. - Julie Ackerman Link -

NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 86 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office and then to Walmart for my weekly items. While at Walmart I met up with Ruth and Lawrence Traughber. I worked with Ruth for 16 years at H&R Block. I took a nap without a cat today. I put treats out for the cats sometime after 6:30 p.m. Thanks for reading the Good Things and thanks for your notes.
The cats are fine. None are with me now but Rascal and Tony have been here recently. I have seen all of my cats this evening. They are all beautiful.

Robin Williams
Robin Williams is being honored widely today by the Media I suspect. He certainly was on the news channel I watch. It is a reminder that being famous, wealthy, and very talented does not keep one from the vicissitudes of life. It is tragic that he found no relief from depression which evidently led to suicide. Also being very well known and popular does not mean one is ready for eternity. I can not judge Mr. Williams but I never heard him express faith in God much less saving faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
He could play very funny roles and very serious roles. He could also be very vulgar.
He is accountable to God. His death is a reminder that all of us one day must be accountable to God. And in this life are we controlled by circumstances or by God?
My deepest sympathy to the Williams family. May God comfort them in facing this untimely death.

Monday, August 11, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. - Proverbs 11:2(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
12 For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:12-13(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
The church needs strong leaders to face our spiritual foes, but they must not be left to face them alone. - Dave Egner - THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Diplomacy is the art of letting other people have your way. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Jesus is the only fountain who can satisfy the thirsty soul. - From Our Daily Bread -
The secret of happiness is to count your blessings, not your birthdays. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly sunny with a cloud now and then. High temperature was 90 degrees. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office and then to the Petsense store. I went to the dentist at 2:20 p.m. My new plate is still not ready. At around 1:00 p.m., Darren came to mow my lawn, trim some trees and weed eat. It was hot, hot, hot. He worked for a while and then took a break and went somewhere to rest. Around 6:00 p.m. I looked out and he was back working. Soon Kathy came to help him. My yard is the prettiest on the block now. I tried to keep Darren and then Kathy supplied with cold bottles of water from my refrigerator. I took a nap this afternoon with Beau. Thanks for your notes and thanks for reading.
The cats are fine. While Darren was working today, some were in the house and some were under a neighbors storage house. I gave them their treats inside this evening since Darren and Kathy were working in the back yard. Rascal and Smokey are the only ones with me now but I have seen all of them this evening.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett

Sunday, August 10, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. - Romans 6:14(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
(The Lord said) 17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more." - Isaiah 65:17-19(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
In all losses, we can turn to the true Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who alone can heal our brokenness and grief. - Bill Crowder -
Thoughts to Remember:
Be a fault-mender rather than a faultfinder. - From Reminisce Magazine -
Christ's mission is our mission. - From Our Daily Bread -
Stand outside this evening. Look at the stars. Know that you are special and loved by the One who created them. - From Every Good Thing -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 93 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We had the usual wonderful service with choruses, hymns and spiritual songs. The public school teachers who attend our church were called to the front and honored this morning. Then the children who attend the public schools were called to the front and prayed for and giving a pack of school supplies. Our church works with and supports William Gay elementary school which is just across the street from our church. Pastor JT's sermon this morning was titled "The Faithful Servant." I had lunch at home. I took a nap this afternoon. Beau napped with me this afternoon. I put treats outside for the cats at 6:50 p.m. As soon as I finish the Good Things I will gather up the garbage and put on the street for pick up in the morning. Last week I did that before Good Things and was too tired to do Good Things. Thanks for everything, including emails, prayers and reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me at present but Smokey and Rascal have been here and just left out to check out other places around the house and yard. I have seen all the cats this evening.
Have a Happy Monday (if possible). Everett
