Good Things
Monday, May 12, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. - Psalm 62:5-6(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made. - Psalm 145:8-9(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness. - Robert Muller -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Good manners never go out of style. - From Reminisce Magazine -
I wish that you remain young at heart for as long as you live. - From I Wish For You -
We worship a God who is greater than our greatest problem. - From Our Daily Bread -
NOTES:
Today has been mostly cloudy with thunderstorms moving in around the middle of the afternoon. High temperature today before the rains came was 88 degrees. The rain has moved on out in the last hour and now we have cloudy skies. Darren and Kathy mowed my lawn and cleaned the yard early this morning. I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I took a nap this afternoon with Smokey and when I awakened at around 3:00 p.m. Smokey was no where to be seen. It was raining and thundering and Smokey hides out when it thunders. I didn't put food out tonight as it was raining. My cats have food on the inside. Thanks for your mail and thanks for reading. I will give another cat definition at the end of the Good Things.
The cats are fine. Emmy just came in and she is not wet so it isn't raining now. Rascal is lying on a desk near me and Tony is lying in the floor close to my chair. I have seen all of them since it started raining.
Have a nice Tuesday. Everett.
CAT DEFINITIONS:
Angora Cat
The Turkish Angora (Turkish: Ankara kedisi, 'Ankara cat') is a breed of domestic cat. Turkish Angoras are one of the ancient, natural breeds of cat, having originated in central Turkey, in the Ankara region (historically known as Angora). The breed has been documented as early as the 1600s and is believed to be the origin of the mutations for both the coloration white (the dominant white gene is in truth the absence of color) and long hair. The breed is also sometimes referred to as simply the Angora or Ankara cat.

Legend of the Swamp'long, 'bout midnight
Darkness lifts her inky veil
And a chorus of night creatures
Chant in harmony from the murky swamp.
Wandering in and out of
Misty clouds that never sleep
The silvery Queen of the Skies
Casts moonbeams on still waters.
'long, 'bout midnight
The shadowy, bewitching Legend of the Swamp
Takes form as she rises from the deep,
Dancing and swaying in unison
With long, gray beards of living moss
That cascade from whispering oaks.
A gentle breeze rustles her gown,
Sounds of the creatures cease
And the night becomes
Hushed as a village of the dead.
With flowing, ebony locks,
Eyes like red coals of fire
And arms lifted to the Heavens
This Mistress of the Night
Weeps and wails for lost loves.
Her haunting cries permeate the shadows
And echo through the blackness.
Crystal teardrops fall as rain
Into the dark abyss of motionless water.
Only silence of the ebony night answers her plea.
As quietly as she rose
The Legend of the Swamp
Disappears into her watery tomb
To await the next black velvet hour.
Once again the misty night comes alive.
Swamp creatures lift their voices in song,
The Queen peeps from behind a cloud
And trees bend and sway to rhythm of the wind.
'long, ' bout midnight.
Good Things
Sunday, May 11, 2014GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH HIS HOLY WORD:
1 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the heights above. 2 Praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His heavenly hosts. 3 Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you shining stars. - Psalm 148:1-3(New International Version).
GOD'S PROMISE TO US FROM HIS HOLY WORD:
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good. - Titus 2:11-14(New International Version).
A QUOTE:
A pure heart is the work of Christ, and only in His power can we remain clean. - David McCasland -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Good mothers not only tell us how to live - they show us. - From Our Daily Bread -:
I hope you do what you love, find work that makes you happy, and live life with gusto. - From I Wish For You -
True happiness is not in doing what we like to do but in liking what we have to do. - From Reminisce Magazine -
NOTES:
Today has been partly cloudy with a high temperature of 86 degrees. I attended Worship Services this morning. We sang choruses, hymns and spiritual songs. Stan and his, daughter, Laura, sang a special song. Laura is the pianist at our church. The title of Pastor JT's sermon was "Transformational Living: Learning from a Mother's Heart." I had lunch at home. I took a nap this afternoon without a cat. I had to make a quick trip to the Dollar Store at around 6:30 p.m as I was completely out of coffee. I put food out for the animals at around 6:00 p.m. After I finish the Good Things I have to put the garbage out on the street for pick up in the morning. Thanks for your emails and thanks for reading the Good Things.
The cats are fine. None are with me now, but they have been coming and going and I have seen all of them this evening.
I hope all the mothers had a happy Mother's Day! Everett.

CelebrationIn the tangerine parade
January whispers the watchful Saints,
Quiet, inward as waterfalls
Silent as February in Maine.
In the tangerine parade
March lights the Kansas plains,
Bluebonnets pause, bluebirds call
April flowers blossom in rain.
In the tangerine parade
May arrives on the east coast train,
Stars and starships search in awe
Of June sonatas in sugar canes.
In the tangerine parade
July soars with sunny days,
Picnics, prayers, under cedar moss
Children race through August hay.
In the tangerine parade
September colors the window panes,
Geese in Canada trumpet fall
Harvest gathers October flames.
In the tangerine parade
Snows in November on Nantucket bay,
Colors march down southern halls
To December, and Jesus on Christmas day.

A QUOTE:
When God forgives, there is an immediate and complete change in relationship. Instead of hostility, there is love and acceptance. Instead of enmity, there is friendship. - Billy Graham -
THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER:
Good friends are good for your health. - From Reminisce Magazine -
The best way to get the last word is to apologize. - From Our Daily Bread -
When the stormy winds of life threaten to knock you down, may you have the courage to spread your wings and fly. - From I Wish For You -
NOTES:
Today has been a sunny day with a high temperature of 86 degrees. Kathy cleaned my house while I had lunch with Charley. I went to the post office. I went to a funeral this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for Shirley Harshaw. I took a nap late in the afternoon. I put food out for the cats at around 6:00 p.m. I sat with them for a few minutes. Thanks for reading and thanks for writing.
The cats are fine. Lucy is lying close to my feet and Rascal is lying on the desk near me. All the cats are accounted for.
I HOPE ALL THE MOTHERS HAVE A WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY!!! Everett
